About the Role
This is a senior, high-impact role within Lumilens’ Silicon Operations team, responsible for driving the end-to-end execution of complex process development and manufacturing readiness programs across photonics, advanced packaging, optical module assembly, and external manufacturing partners. The Technical Project Manager will partner closely with internal engineering teams, OSAT partners, quality, and operations to ensure critical process milestones are delivered from development and DOE through qualification, pilot build, and high-volume manufacturing release. The ideal candidate is hands-on, highly technical, and comfortable operating in a fast-moving startup environment where strong program ownership, cross-functional alignment, and data-driven decision-making are essential to scaling next-generation optical interconnect technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Working with internal & external stakeholders to ensure effective end to end process FMEA, Design for MFG and controllability,
Overall schedule management on process development, DOE, qualification, pilot run and release to HVM.
Working with respective process engineers on specific process requirements, delivery & performance.
Working with OSAT QA to ensure the site & process meet the quality & reliability requirements, including but not limited to effective line & process audit, process control, change control, MRB.
Requirements & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic, Mechatronics, Materials Science, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline; advanced degree is a plus.
8+ years of hands-on process engineering experience in semiconductor packaging, optoelectronics, optical transceiver/module assembly, microelectronics, SMT, or precision automation manufacturing, preferably in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Strong technical depth in one or more core assembly processes, including die attach/die bond, wire bond, active optical alignment, optical module assembly, dispensing, curing, bonding, or end-to-end line integration.
Proven experience owning process development from concept through qualification, pilot build, production release, and sustained high-volume manufacturing ramp.
Solid understanding of process FMEA, DFM/DFx, control plans, change control, MRB, process audits, and quality/reliability requirements in a manufacturing or OSAT environment.
Strong working knowledge of DOE, SPC, Cpk/process capability, yield analysis, defect Pareto, root-cause failure analysis, and structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D or DMAIC.
Experience defining process windows, equipment requirements, recipes, SOPs, work instructions, qualification plans, and production control strategies.
Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including process engineering, product/design engineering, manufacturing, quality, equipment engineering, suppliers, and external manufacturing partners.
Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical discussions, drive alignment across stakeholders, and make data-driven decisions under schedule and ramp-up pressure.
Hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced startup or scale-up environment with evolving processes, tools, and priorities.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical findings, risks, trade-offs, and recommendations clearly to both engineering and leadership audiences.
