About the Role
This is a critical technical role responsible for the lifecycle management, qualification, performance, and operational excellence of wafer-level testing equipment across Lumilens’ manufacturing operations. You will serve as the equipment owner and subject matter expert for wafer probing, test handling, and associated wafer-level test equipment, driving equipment selection, installation, qualification, troubleshooting, maintenance, and continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on experience with semiconductor wafer-level testing equipment and thrives on improving equipment reliability, availability, and capability in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Lifecycle Management: Lead the evaluation, selection, procurement, installation, qualification, and ramp-up of wafer-level testing equipment and associated infrastructure.
Wafer-Level Test Equipment Ownership: Serve as the subject matter expert and equipment owner for wafer probers, wafer handling systems, test interfaces, probe cards, handlers, and associated test equipment and automation systems.
Equipment Buy-off & Qualification: Develop and execute equipment qualification plans, including installation qualification, operational qualification, performance qualification, and manufacturing readiness activities.
Equipment Uptime & Availability: Drive high equipment availability and utilization by proactively identifying equipment-related constraints and minimizing unscheduled downtime.
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance: Establish and implement effective preventive and predictive maintenance programs to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime to ensure consistent operational efficiency & yield, and extend equipment life.
Equipment Capability & Optimization: Optimize equipment performance, capability, and utilization to support wafer-level testing requirements, production throughput, and manufacturing ramp.
Equipment Process Integration: Work closely with WLT Operations/Process Engineering to ensure equipment capability and performance meet test process requirements and production specifications.
Equipment Data & Performance Monitoring: Establish and monitor equipment performance metrics such as uptime, availability, utilization, mean time between failures (MTBF), mean time to repair (MTTR), and maintenance performance.
Vendor & Spare Parts Management: Manage equipment vendors and OSAT suppliers for tool upgrades, retrofits, and spare parts inventory to ensure zero production line stops due to tool hardware failures.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with WLT Operations/Process Engineering, Quality, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, and external equipment suppliers to ensure successful equipment deployment and stable production execution.
Requirements & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience operating, troubleshooting, qualifying, and maintaining semiconductor wafer-level testing equipment.
Strong understanding of wafer probing, wafer handling, test interfaces, probe cards, handlers, and automated wafer-level test systems.
Strong experience in equipment troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, preventive maintenance, and corrective action.
Experience with equipment performance metrics, including uptime, utilization, MTBF, MTTR, and equipment capability.
Strong cross-functional communication and project management skills, with the ability to drive technical issues to closure across internal and external teams.
Experience working with semiconductor wafer fabs, OSATs, wafer-level test houses, equipment suppliers, or other external manufacturing partners is highly preferred.
Experience in photonics, silicon photonics, optical testing, or advanced semiconductor packaging is a strong advantage.
