About the Role

As an Optical Product Test Engineer specializing in software automation, you will work on test automation and networking protocols. You will help validate complex systems at Layer 1 and Layer 2 using tools like Ixia and build Python based frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and execute automated test cases in Python.

  • Perform functional, regression, and performance testing on Layer 1 and Layer network systems.

  • Validate hardware and software integration with optical interfaces and network switches.

  • Configure and use traffic generators (e.g., IXIA) to simulate network environments and evaluate performance.

  • Collaborate with developers and hardware engineers to identify, reproduce, and resolve defects.

  • Document test cases, results, and defects in test management tools.

  • Maintain code and test assets in version control systems (GitHub or Bitbucket). Continuously improve test frameworks and methodologies.

  • Collaborate with design engineer and manufacturing teams to define and develop the test software for the high volume manufacturing of the high-end optical component manufacturing

  • Closely collaborate with engineering teams to improve manufacturing yield, efficiency and cost

  • Owner of Manufacturing test scripts creating, maintaining, changing control.

  • Manage manufacturing software change control processes, system, through the execution.

  • Collaborate with software engineer, IT and database to define the better solutions of manufacturing test data in reliability, reasonable cost, high efficiency and scalability.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Telecommunications, or related field.

  • 4–8 years of hands-on experience in software testing and test automation of products used in optical networking.

  • Strong proficiency in Python for test automation.

  • Good understanding of Layer 1 and Layer 2 networking protocols.

  • Experience with optical testing, network switches, and traffic generators like IXIA.

  • Ability to debug issues in complex networking environments.

  • Experience with Jenkins or ArgoCD other CI/CD tools.

  • Familiarity with Shell scripting for automation and environment setup.

  • Exposure to C# for UI validation or tool development is a plus.

Education & Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or related field.

  • Experience in automated test system development for electronics and optics manufacturing.

  • Experienced in optical products testing equipment and coding.

  • Knowledge and experience in the optical transceiver manufacturing will be plus.

Technical Skills:

  • C# .NET (Framework or Core).

  • Familiar with OOP concepts such as class, interface, inheritance and polymorphism.

  • Familiar with Windows Form or WPF.

  • Hardware communication protocols: NI-VISA, SCPI, RS-232, TCP/IP.

  • Experienced in test instruments such as optical oscilloscopes, optical power meters, optical switches and network switches.

  • Database integration: SQL, NoSQL for test data logging and analysis.

  • Version control tools: Github, Bitbucket or SVN.

  • Experience with optical transceivers, especially silicon photonics (SiPh), is a plus

  • Good command in English communication both verbal and written. And other communication skills, including in-person and virtual presentation skills.
