Wanna join the adventure?

Loft Orbital is redefining how satellites are built and deployed. We provide a fast, simple, and reliable path to orbit by combining standardized space vehicles, mission-specific payload integration, and end-to-end mission execution.

As a Harness Design Engineer, you’ll help design the electrical harnesses that connect spacecraft systems, avionics, payloads, and test equipment. You’ll work across electrical systems, mechanical engineering, manufacturing, and integration & test to turn electrical interfaces into reliable, production-ready hardware.

This is a great opportunity for an earlier career candidate with a strong electrical engineering foundation and an interest in developing expertise in spacecraft harness design.

About this role:

  • Design electrical harnesses for spacecraft, payloads, and test systems.
  • Translate schematics, ICDs, pinouts, and electrical interfaces into harness designs.
  • Create harness schematics and 3D harness assemblies using Creo.
  • Develop manufacturing drawings, bills of material, and harness documentation.
  • Support harness fabrication, inspection, integration, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Contribute to harness libraries, design standards, and continuous improvement.

Must haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field
  • Strong foundation in electrical engineering, circuits, electronics, and electrical interfaces.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, pinouts, and interface documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and interest in precise, hands-on engineering work.
  • Ability to learn new engineering tools and collaborate across electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, and test teams.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.

Nice to haves:

  • Experience with Creo, SolidWorks, CATIA, or another 3D CAD system.
  • Experience with electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, block diagrams, or connectivity data.
  • Familiarity with connectors, wires, cables, shielding, grounding, strain relief, or EMI/EMC.
  • Hands-on experience with electronics, PCBs, soldering, crimping, electrical test equipment, or hardware integration.
  • Coursework or project experience in embedded systems, RF, signal integrity, power electronics, or high-speed digital design.

Some of our awesome benefits:

  • Equity, we want you to have an active role in our success
  • Up to 35 days of Paid Time Off (vacations & RTT ) and flexible working hours, we want you to be at your best
  • Health and life insurance, we care about your health
  • Lunch Vouchers, because let’s be honest, we love food! (we even have a slack channel about it #loft-gourmand)
  • Cross-office travel opportunities between San Francisco, Colorado, and Toulouse to learn from our differences
  • Company and team off-sites and many other events to work & celebrate together
  • Relocation assistance to Toulouse when applicable
