Test Engineer

Location: 6314 Remote/Teleworker US

Time Type: Full time

Job Description

The Force Protection Division is seeking a Test Engineer to support the integration, verification, validation, and operational assessment of force protection sensing technologies for the Rock Island Arsenal (RIA) Increased Access OTA Prototype. The Test Engineer will play a critical role in planning, coordinating, and executing system-level integration and test activities to ensure the prototype meets technical, operational, and customer performance objectives.

The Test Engineer is responsible for developing comprehensive test strategies, test plans, test procedures, and verification methods that validate system functionality, interoperability, performance, reliability, and cybersecurity across a layered security architecture. This role will support the integration of multiple commercial and Government technologies—including sensors, autonomous systems, networking infrastructure, command and control software, cybersecurity capabilities, and supporting communications systems—into a unified operational capability.

Working closely with Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Security Engineering, subcontractors, Government stakeholders, and commercial technology partners, the Test Engineer will coordinate laboratory integration activities, developmental testing, operational demonstrations, and customer assessments. The individual will identify technical issues, analyze test results, document deficiencies, verify corrective actions, and provide objective technical assessments supporting customer acceptance and transition planning.

The Test Engineer will collaborate across engineering disciplines to ensure test activities are traceable to system requirements, operational scenarios, and mission objectives while supporting a fast-paced prototype development environment focused on rapid capability delivery and operational success.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the overall system integration, verification, validation, and test strategy for the Rock Island Arsenal Increased Access OTA Prototype.
  • Develop test plans, test procedures, test cases, and test reports supporting developmental testing, integration testing, operational demonstrations, and customer assessments.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute laboratory integration testing, Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and operational field testing activities.
  • Coordinate integration and test activities across multiple subcontractors, commercial vendors, Government organizations, and Leidos engineering teams.
  • Identify, document, prioritize, and track system deficiencies through resolution while working collaboratively with engineering teams and subcontractors.
  • Support verification and validation of hardware, software, networking, cybersecurity, and infrastructure components throughout the system development lifecycle.
  • Ensure all testing activities are performed in accordance with approved engineering processes, configuration management practices, safety requirements, and cybersecurity constraints.
  • Develop technical reports, executive summaries, test metrics, and engineering recommendations supporting program reviews and customer decision briefings.
  • Support troubleshooting and resolution of integration issues involving multiple vendors, interfaces, communications protocols, and operational workflows.

Basic Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing test strategies, test plans, test procedures, test cases, and test reports supporting complex hardware and software systems.
  • Demonstrated experience executing verification and validation (V&V) activities throughout the system development life cycle (SDLC).
  • Demonstrated experience performing system integration testing involving hardware, software, communications, networking, and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components.
  • Demonstrated experience identifying, documenting, tracking, and verifying resolution of system defects using defect tracking and configuration management processes.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), developmental testing, operational testing, or customer acceptance testing.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% to support laboratory integration, customer demonstrations, and operational assessments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) acquisition, rapid prototyping, or Other Transaction Authority (OTA) programs.
  • Demonstrated experience planning and executing operational assessments for integrated systems supporting Government customers.
  • Experience integrating and testing layered security systems, physical security technologies, command and control (C2) systems, autonomous systems, counter-UAS (C-UAS) capabilities, or sensor fusion solutions.

Experience supporting customer demonstrations, military exercises, or field evaluations in operational environments.
