Description

Serve as a Junior Autonomy Systems Engineer for the Leidos Innovation Center (LInC) in Huntsville, AL.  Our team’s mission is to: (1) develop and demonstrate contested autonomy and navigation technologies to meet urgent military operational needs to operate in RF-challenged environments, and (2) rapidly transition this technology to operational platforms to outpace the adversary threats currently being faced in the field.  We support a wide variety of military autonomous vehicles including drones, unmanned underwater vehicles, and ground robots.  Project involve small teams of engineers working together in spiral or agile development environments to meet aggressive customer schedules aimed at near-term field demonstrations of emerging capabilities.  Typical customers include Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), Air Force Research Laboratory, Office of Naval Research (ONR), and Army engineering research centers.

The ideal candidate for this position will be someone who is excited about autonomous systems and thrives in a dynamic environment where there are many chances to learn new skills.   This is a tremendous opportunity to get real-world experience in a variety of Systems Engineering disciplines in a short time and be customer-facing early in your career.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support a variety of traditional systems engineering functions for fast-moving small-to-medium sized projects.  Our projects tend to focus on producing high-quality concise documentation rather than large formal documents that can be hundreds of pages.
  • Support requirements development for small-to-medium sized projects with limited top-level objectives
  • Support interface development across subsystems including inputs to interface control documents
  • Support development of program planning documentation including Project Plans, Project Schedules, Software Development Plans, and Technical Reports (including synthesizing inputs from slide inputs from multiple different subsystems into a cohesive final written report))
  • Support a team of engineers performing software testing and quality assurance on prototype deliverables
  • Support material procurement and tracking for small quantities of hardware for prototype efforts
  • Provide inputs for tracking project progress by distilling financial reports, evaluating task progress, and discussions with the engineering discipline leads
  • Support safety review preparations prior to field demonstrations
  • Provide inputs to teams developing documentation and user’s guide providing instructions to operators on how to use our systems successfully in the field
  • Support occasional travel for data collections and field demonstrations (typical duration no longer than 5 days)
  • Run basic analysis software to analyze collected data and generate plots
  • Willingness to take on all needed tasks to help our team be successful on challenging deadlines
  • Expertise in particular areas can compensate for lack of experience in others, as long as the candidate is excited to take on new tasks and learn new skills as needed.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering or related technical field (including Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering) with 0-2 years of experience.
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Selected candidate expected to have GPA > 3.6
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in peer level organizations
  • Proactive self-starter who is willing to find solutions to problems based only on high-level guidance
  • Experience operating a wide variety of software programs, including strong proficiency in Microsoft Office as well as video editing software
  • Basic programming experience (such as Matlab or Python fundamentals)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and associated tools such as Cameo and MagicDraw
  • Experience interfacing with and briefing to DoD government customers

As a student navigating the job market, I've found LinkedIn increasingly frustrating due to numerous fake postings by consultancies. In contrast, this job posting website has been a game-changer for me. It offers genuine opportunities and a straightforward application process, making it much easier to find and apply for real jobs. Highly recommend it to fellow students seeking reliable job listings!

Echo Jobs has been exceptional in my job hunt where it provides one platform to job hunt and I don't have to open 10 websites just to look for a job. It has also helped me focus much on the job skill and the location filtering out the onsite jobs and remote ones. The only feature that I would request is to display fully remote jobs that are not restricted to a country since the one available shows ie, Remote, US yet. But if it could show remote only, that would be helpful not only to me but to other people applying for full remote and not tied to only US candidates

I found EchoJobs in 2022, and I love it. It has a lot of remote jobs. It's exclusive to software and technology jobs (helpful for devs like me). What I like the most are its filters and its API. If you're a tech professional seeking remote work, I highly recommend giving it a try to EchoJobs.

Simply put, it's the most up to date tech jobs aggregator I’ve found. I'm like... "I don't have to check 10+ jobs boards daily just to see if there's a new job listing? sign me up!" The filters are also quite helpful! The UI is very clean and straightforward. Love it!
