Engineering Intern

The Advanced Materials Group at Leidos is seeking a motivated Engineering Intern to work in our Crane IN, office. This role will be an in-person position. Our ideal candidate will be enrolled in an Engineering program at a Junior/Senior/Graduate level. As an Engineering Intern you will gain hands on experience working on challenging projects in a dynamic environment.

Primary Responsibilities

• Conduct research and analysis on engineering projects and assist in the development of concepts and solutions.
• Collaborate with experienced professionals to gain a comprehensive understanding of manufacturing systems and equipment.
• Contribute to the development of project plans and timelines.
• Learn and adhere to company policies and procedures.
• Attend meetings and provide updates on project progress.
• Continuously seek opportunities to learn and improve skills in engineering.
• Maintain communication with team members and supervisors to ensure project goals are met.
• Demonstrate strong problem problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically.
• Take initiative and show a willingness to learn and take in new challenges.
• Adhere to project deadlines and deliver high-quality work.
• Represent the company in a professional manner and uphold its values and standards.
• Craft and present a poster by the end of the summer highlighting your projects/work

Basic Qualifications

• US Citizen
• 3.0 GPA or higher
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Engineering program or related discipline at an accredited University.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a collaborative environment
• Experience writing technical reports and documentation

Preferred Qualifications

• Data cleaning and preparation experience
• Experience performing data analysis and proficiency in common data analysis tools (Python, MATLAB, Excel, Tableau, and/or VBA)
• Database management experience (SQL)

• Experience working with computational fluid dynamics tools (i.e. OpenFOAM)
• Prior course work or experience in fluid mechanics, heat transfer, C++, and Linux
• Experience using CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar)
