Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Fiber Test Engineering Support Technician to join the Power & Thermal Management division in New London, CT. The Fiber Test Engineering Support Technician performs comprehensive testing and evaluation of fiber optic cables, connectors, and advanced connectivity solutions to ensure product quality, reliability, and compliance with industry standards. Accurately document, analyze, and communicate test results to engineering and product development teams, providing critical data to support innovation and product improvement. Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams to troubleshoot testing challenges, identify root causes of equipment or process issues, and recommend effective solutions. Utilize industry-standard testing methodologies, including TIA and Telcordia requirements, along with specialized equipment such as IL/RL meters, force testers, endface geometry measurement systems, fiber inspection tools, modal explorers, and environmental chambers. This position offers the opportunity to work with next-generation fiber optic technologies, collaborate with innovative engineering teams, and contribute directly to the development and qualification of products used in critical network infrastructure worldwide.

The Fiber Test Engineering Support Technician performs comprehensive testing and evaluation of fiber optic cables, connectors, and connectivity solutions to ensure product quality, reliability, and compliance with industry standards. This role carries out test plans, documents and analyzes results, and communicates findings to engineering and product development teams. Responsibilities include troubleshooting test methods and setups, designing test fixtures, maintaining lab equipment and certifications, performing first article and production evaluations, and supporting the ECN process. The technician utilizes TIA, Telcordia, UL, CSA, and IEC requirements and specialized fiber testing equipment, while collaborating with technical teams to support product development and improvement.
