What does a day look like in my role?

We get it: You need to know what you’re signing up for before you apply, right?

 

As a Data Analyst co-op, you’ll be:

  • Using data mining to extract information from data sets and identify correlations and patterns 
  • Organizing and transforming information into comprehensible structures
  • Using data to predict trends in the customer base and the consumer population as a whole
  • Performing statistical analysis of data
  • Using tools and techniques to visualize data in easy-to-understand formats, such as diagrams and graphs
  • Paying attention to detail when working with data in order to make accurate conclusions and predictions
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively share findings with shareholders
  • Strong IT and mathematical skills
  • In-depth knowledge of statistical methodologies and data analysis techniques
  • Other duties as assigned


By the end of your work term you will have:

  • Build meaningful data models and daily reports that are used by leadership
  • Gained experience in using BigQuery data warehouse, GCP ETL tools, 
  • Gained experience in data visualization tools like Metabase, Google Sheets, and Looker Studio
  • Solved real problems and contributed to the health of business
  • Worked alongside a couple fabulous data analysts/engineers.

  • Experience in data mining to extract information from data sets and identify correlations and patterns 
  • Using data to predict trends in the customer base and relate to business outcomes
  • Proficiency writing SQL
  • Familiarity using tools and techniques to visualize data in easy-to-understand formats, such as diagrams and graphs
  • The ability to pay attention to detail when working with data in order to make accurate conclusions and predictions
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively share findings with shareholders
  • An understanding of data sources, data organization and storage
  • Strong IT and mathematical skills
  • In-depth knowledge of statistical methodologies and data analysis techniques


It would additionally be nice if you have:

  • Experience with data visualization tools
  • Understanding of online analytics tools (Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager)
  • Proficiency with Google Big Query Data Storage (SQL Queries)
  • Proficiency with MS Excel or Google Sheets
  • Knowledge of R is a bonus
  • Ability to convincingly articulate analytical ideas in a simple way to a variety of key stakeholders from different functions
