About the Role:

As a Senior Software Development Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining complex software systems with a focus on cloud development and microservices. You will work with cross-functional teams to build scalable, high-performance solutions using modern technologies. This role offers the opportunity to leverage your expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and AWS services, while also contributing to process improvements, mentoring team members, and supporting production systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Software Development: Design, develop, and maintain high-quality software solutions using Java, Spring Boot, and other relevant technologies. Focus on cloud-based applications and microservices architecture.
  • Cloud and Infrastructure: Utilize AWS services, EKS, and Terraform for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to deploy and manage cloud-based applications and services.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery of software solutions. Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to meet project goals.
  • Process Improvement: Contribute to process definition and continuous improvement by identifying areas for enhancement and implementing best practices.
  • Mentorship and Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, tech leads, and team members. Lead by example in code quality, design principles, and development practices.
  • Methodology Expertise: Apply Agile methodologies, including Kanban and Scrum, to manage and deliver projects effectively. Participate in Agile ceremonies and adapt methodologies to fit team needs.
  • Production Support: Participate in on-call rotation for production support, ensuring timely resolution of issues and maintaining service reliability. Engineers are responsible for owning their services end-to-end.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years of proven experience in software development with strong programming skills in Java and Spring Boot.
  • Experience with cloud technologies, including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, with a focus on microservices architectures and containerization.
  • Proficiency with orchestration and automation tools such as Jenkins, Terraform, and similar technologies for infrastructure management and deployment.
  • Proficiency with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB and DynamoDB.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing cloud-based and microservices projects.
  • Familiarity with Kanban and Scrum methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience in mentoring, leading engineering teams, and delivering complex software systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to tackle complex technical challenges.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to work effectively in a hybrid work environment.
  • Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
