RF System Design Engineer
Department: Perception & Autonomy
Location: Bangalore
Employment Type: FullTime
We're Hiring: RF System Design Engineer
Full-Time | Core Team
LAT Aerospace | Defence
At LAT Aerospace, we're building across multiple programs solving critical aerospace problems in India for the world - clean-sheet STOL aircraft, indigenous gas turbine engines, and defence autonomy that secures our borders. We're looking for an RF System Design Engineer to own the RF system end to end - from architecture and hardware through calibration and live field testing. You'll make the trade-offs, put your design on the bench, and watch it track real targets.
What you'll do
Own the end-to-end RF architecture: frequency planning, link/power budgets, cascade, dynamic range, and spurious analysis
Design the waveform and receive chain - chirp synthesis, LO generation, receiver lineup - driving phase-noise, linearity, and isolation to component level
Architect a software-defined approach: reconfigurable waveforms, sampling-friendly front-ends, clean RF-digital partitioning
Design and bring up T/R modules, RF front-ends, and antennas at element and array level - sidelobe control, pattern measurement
Define and execute multi-channel amplitude/phase calibration, from factory alignment to field
Simulate, fabricate, measure, correlate, iterate - validate against hardware relentlessly
Plan and run lab and field test campaigns through live target-tracking trials
Harden for thermal, vibration, EMI/EMC, and document to production-grade standards
What we're looking for
Hands-on RF system design in radar/defence electronics - firm requirement; telecom/5G-only will not qualify
At least one complete RF system taken from architecture through hardware to field testing
FMCW chain, phased-array/AESA design, and software-defined radar concepts
Antenna design at element and array level; microwave design at X, Ku, or Ka band
RF architecture analysis: link budget, cascade, frequency planning, spur charts, phase-noise budgeting
EM simulation (HFSS, CST, FEKO, AWR) and circuit/system simulation (ADS, Microwave Office, SystemVue)
Hands-on RF lab: VNA, spectrum analyzer, signal generators, phase-noise, power meters
Scripting for analysis and automation: MATLAB or Python
Eager to learn - treats "I haven't done this before" as a starting point, not a boundary
Bonus Skills
Pulsed architectures, or exposure to counter-UAS, EW, seekers, or surveillance radar
GaN/GaAs MMIC T/R module design; near-field antenna measurement
High-speed data converter integration (JESD204-class); MIL-STD-810/461 qualification
Experience in the Indian defence ecosystem (DRDO, defence PSUs, or defence startups)
Why LAT?
Core team opportunity at a high-conviction deep-tech startup
Real hardware, real field tests, real impact
Build sovereign defence technology from the ground up in India
