The Customer Support Business Group focuses on enabling our customers with premier customer support throughout their lifecycle with Lam. We drive performance, productivity, safety, and quality of customers installed base performance and deliver service and lifecycle solutions for their most critical equipment and processes.

The impact you’ll make

You will partner with Supply Chain and cross-functional technical teams to assess the design and product impact of supplier, material, and process changes. As an Engineering stakeholder in design reviews, you will help determine the evidence needed to approve changes—including testing, qualification, and statistical analysis—while balancing product risk, quality, productivity, cost, and supply continuity.

What you’ll do

• Review supplier and manufacturing change requests for parts and processes used in semiconductor equipment.
• Assess how proposed changes could affect part function, equipment performance, reliability, safety, and manufacturability.
• Participate in cross-functional design reviews as an Engineering stakeholder, collaborating with Supply Chain, Engineering, Product Management, Productivity, Process Engineering, and other teams.
• Recommend risk-based testing and qualification plans, including acceptance criteria, sample sizes, and required engineering evidence.
• Analyze test and production data using appropriate statistical methods; interpret results and communicate conclusions, limitations, and recommendations.
• Provide engineering input to decisions to approve, reject, or request additional evidence for proposed changes, in accordance with applicable product and change-control requirements.
• Partner with suppliers and internal teams to resolve technical questions, close evidence gaps, and address issues identified during qualification or after implementation.
• Identify opportunities to improve change-review, qualification, and productivity processes while maintaining product quality and reliability.

Who we’re looking for

• 8+ years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or a master’s degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field with 6+ years of experience; or equivalent experience.
• Experience evaluating engineering, supplier, or manufacturing changes to complex products, components, or processes.
• Strong analytical skills, including experience interpreting test data and applying statistical methods to engineering or qualification decisions.
• Sound engineering judgment and the ability to assess technical risk, determine appropriate evidence, and make clear recommendations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical findings to both engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across functions, organizations, and cultures.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with semiconductor equipment, semiconductor manufacturing, or other high-reliability industries.
• Familiarity with supplier change control, engineering change management, product qualification, and manufacturing process controls.
• Experience with one or more relevant commodities or processes, such as ceramics or other advanced materials, machining, coatings, cleaning, or critical commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components.
• Experience developing qualification plans, setting acceptance criteria, designing experiments, and analyzing results using statistical methods.
• Experience working directly with suppliers and translating product requirements into clear technical expectations.
• Comfortable with occasional travel to supplier, Lam, or customer locations, up to 5%.

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
