Job Description:

 

 

The Integration and Test Engineer will be responsible for testing, troubleshooting, overhauling, calibrating, and repair of technically complex mechanical, electro-mechanical, and electronic sonar components using a variety of test equipment and custom test sets. Following diagnostics, the engineer will provide work instructions to technicians for repair of various sensors, electro-mechanical systems, and circuit card assemblies (CCAs). Maintenance and design of test sets is required as needed.

 

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Plan and direct component testing of complex sonar systems under limited supervision.
  • Develop and maintain test methodologies, processes, procedures, specifications, schematics, and documentation.
  • Design, construct, calibrate, adjust, test, and maintain test equipment, fixtures, and systems used for sonar testing and tuning.
  • Conduct testing, troubleshooting, and repair of complex sonar systems and associated test sets; analyze and validate test results; document findings and generate test reports.
  • Lead and direct test technicians; review and verify work performed by peers.
  • Support assembly and integration of products and systems, including mechanical alignment, testing, troubleshooting, and evaluation.
  • Prepare and review design documentation in accordance with contractual and internal requirements.
  • Provide input for process improvements, development of top‑level and subassembly test procedures, and test readiness/design readiness reviews.
  • Assist with procurement of test‑related items and contribute to technical proposal efforts as needed.
  • Support resource estimating and provide tasking inputs for Integrated Master Schedule development and maintenance.
  • Ensure work quality and compliance with the Quality Systems Manual, Standard Work Instructions, and applicable internal or contractual standards.
  • Ability to understand and analyze complex circuit diagrams.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Software tools used: LabVIEW, SolidWorks, MATLAB, Minitab, Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Perform other duties as required.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline, Physics, or related disciplines with 6 or more years of experience in Engineering field. Graduate Degree and a min of 4 years of experience. In lieu of a degree, there is a minimum of 12 years of prior related experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience using test equipment, such as network analyzers, scopes, DMMs, DAQs, signal generators, and spectrum analyzers.
  • 2+ years of experience in using LabVIEW software to communicate with a wide variety of instrumentation and analog and digital data acquisition systems.
  • At least 2 years of experience diagnosing and debugging circuit cards.

 

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

  • Experience evaluating and repairing power supplies is a plus.
  • Robust exposure to acoustic and sonar systems and theory.
  • Experience with dipping sonar and towed bodies and arrays.
  • Knowledge and use of piezoelectric ceramic transducers (hydrophones, projectors, other).
  • Proficiency with software protocols such as Python, C++, and other scripting languages.
  • Certified LabVIEW Developer or Architect.
  • Excellent written, oral, presentation, and team skills.
