Job Description:

L3Harris in Palm Bay, FL is seeking an associate with strong knowledge of additive manufacturing and optomechanical engineering to support the design, fabrication, and validation of acousto-optic based additive manufacturing equipment that include components such as galvanometric mirrors, acousto-optic deflectors, laser sources, and free space optic. The ideal candidate will possess a diverse array of skills, with an emphasis on optomechanical design, control theory, and additive manufacturing.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Design, analyze, modify, test and evaluate optical systems.
  • Employ modeling tools, perform laboratory experimentations.
  • Ability to operate all optical related equipment to successfully execute tasks to include data reductions, evaluation of result, and delivery/presentation to audience
  • Select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability.
  • Perform simulations and present design reviews to peer engineers.
  • Work with a technical leader on Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and ensure successful outcome through program milestones.

 

Qualifications:

  • To be eligible, applicants must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering with Optics Focus, Physics or related field or have completed their Bachelor’s degree within the last 12 months, regardless of age.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Class work in mathematics, programming, physics, photonics systems/hardware
