The Role

As a Mainframe Automation Specialist at Kyndryl, you’ll solve complex problems and identify potential future issues across the spectrum of platforms and services. You’ll be at the forefront of new technology and modernization, working with some of our biggest clients – which means some of the biggest in the world.

There’s never a typical day as a System Administrator at Kyndryl, because no two projects are alike. You’ll be managing systems data for clients and providing day-to-day solutions and security compliance. You’ll oversee a queue of assignments and work directly with technicians, prioritizing tickets to deliver the best solutions to our clients.

The Mainframe Automation Specialist is responsible for research, analysis, documentation, and presentation of effective methods of consolidating various jobs/workflows/started tasks and automating them to prevent manual intervention from Operations. Automation also provides recovery processes to support high availability initiatives. The Automation analyst is responsible for evaluating and projecting impacts of actual or proposed changes in jobs codes wherever necessary or in the job scheduler. Ideally, the individual would benefit from understand processes from both the Infrastructure Operations Center, and the Lines of Business.

Required skills : CA OPS/MVS, IBM Tivoli NetView, IBM Tivoli System Automation, BMC Mainview AutoOperator, BMC Control-O,  GDPS.

Experience and good exposure to unsupported, new features in the recent versions.•      Patching, testing, upgrades, installation. Coding for Z/OS, REXX, Tivoli Netview, Systems Automation for Z/OS, WAC ( IBM Worldwide Automation Configurator ) , COBOL, RPG, JCL, PROCS. Good overall knowledge in all facets of IT. Peer review of changes/projects. High scale automation of large mainframe based enterprise.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 8+ years of experience in installation, configuration, troubleshooting, support, and maintenance of IBM Mainframe Automation products.

  • Expertise in proactive automation solutions, including project leadership, client collaboration projects, technical refresh, and innovative solution design.

  • Hands-on experience with:

    • CA OPS/MVS, IBM Tivoli NetView, IBM Tivoli System Automation, BMC Mainview AutoOperator, BMC Control-O, GDPS.

  • Exposure to unsupported features and new functionalities in recent versions.

  • Skilled in patching, testing, upgrades, and installation.

  • Coding proficiency in Z/OS, REXX, Tivoli NetView, Systems Automation for Z/OS, WAC (IBM Worldwide Automation Configurator), COBOL, RPG, JCL, PROCS.

  • Strong overall knowledge across all facets of IT.

  • Experience in peer review of changes/projects and high-scale automation for large mainframe-based enterprises.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • IPL (Initial Program Load) and Disaster Recovery (DR) support.

  • Ability to resolve automation issues effectively.

  • Assist with testing, implementation, and customization of new/improved automation solutions, as well as product upgrades.

  • Maintenance and customization of automation products.
