Full Stack Engineer

Software Engineer (Remote -  Mexico)

Kunai is hiring Full Stack Engineers at both Senior and Mid-Level to join our client’s fast-paced and innovative team. Our client is a leader in the online estate planning industry, offering digital solutions for wills, trusts, and guardianships. This role offers the opportunity to work across the stack, build new features, and contribute to a dynamic engineering team.

Responsibilities:

Senior Software Engineer:

• Design and develop robust, scalable backend and full-stack solutions within established architectural standards.
• Work autonomously on mid-to-large feature projects, gathering requirements from multiple stakeholders and delivering high-quality solutions.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to mid-level and junior engineers through code reviews and coaching.
• Implement and optimize application features, including payments (checkout, orders, memberships, pricing optimization) and growth initiatives (referrals, access control, multi-tenancy, and privacy permissions).
• Ensure best practices in testing, deployment, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive feature adoption and improve system performance.

Mid-Level Software Engineer:

• Develop new features and maintain existing applications across various teams, including authentication, payments, and marketing technology.
• Work across the full-stack, contributing to backend (Node.js, SQL/NoSQL databases) and frontend (React, TypeScript) development.
• Run backend migrations, transform data tables, and optimize system performance.
• Collaborate with engineering peers, participate in agile ceremonies, and deliver high-impact features.
• Work within a fast-paced, iterative development environment with a focus on metrics and outcomes.
• Ensure code quality through thorough testing and CI/CD best practices.

Requirements:

Senior Software Engineer:

• 6-12 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong backend experience with SQL/NoSQL databases, MySQL, and MongoDB.
• Expertise in full-stack development using TypeScript, Node.js, and React.
• Proficiency in designing and implementing complex application features with autonomy.
• Experience working in an AWS environment.
• Familiarity with feature flags and agile development methodologies.
• Strong communication skills, ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Knowledge of DevOps practices (GitHub Actions, CI/CD) is a plus.
• Strong focus on testing applications as a hard requirement.

Mid-Level Software Engineer:

• 2-6 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience working with SQL/NoSQL databases (MySQL, MongoDB) and backend development using Node.js.
• Proficiency in full-stack development, including TypeScript and React.
• Comfortable adapting to different technologies and working across various domains within the system.
• Experience with feature flags and working in an agile, fast-paced startup environment.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a remote setting.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices (GitHub Actions, CI/CD) is a plus but not required.
• Strong focus on testing applications as a hard requirement.
