Software Engineer

Location: Doncaster, England, gb

Company Description

TBA is a leading international provider of software and services for ports, terminals, and warehouses with over 150 live installations worldwide. We aim to support our customers during the entire life cycle of their operation from design to implementation to optimisation of their operation.

You will be working on a market-leading Terminal Operating System that underpins the day-to-day operations of ports and terminals around the world. Our software supports mission-critical activities across the entire port operation, from vessel planning and yard management to gate processing and cargo movements.

What makes this role unique is the ability to see the direct impact of your work. Our platform doesn't just report what's happening; it helps control and optimise operations through integrations with cranes, weighbridges, scanners, access control systems, and other operational technology. At TBA Doncaster, you'll develop software that powers real-world processes, providing critical information to decision-makers and keeping goods moving efficiently worldwide through complex logistics environments. In short, you'll be able to see your code in action.

You will be working with people of diverse talents and backgrounds. As we are committed to growing our people, we will provide you with opportunities that broaden your knowledge and strengthen your professional & technical skills. Working at TBA, over your career, you will be presented with opportunities to visit and work at customer and other TBA company locations, both within the UK and internationally.

Job Description

The Software Engineer role is based at TBA Doncaster and holds responsibility for the creation of high-quality software applications within an Agile environment and keeping up to date with the latest relevant technological innovations. As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for building, testing (supporting QA colleagues), and deploying customer-facing products, creating software that adheres to best practices and collaborating with the Solution Architect and data specialists, to ensure delivery meets functional and non-functional requirements.

In addition, this role will be responsible for assisting the Tech & Product Leadership team in building and promoting a positive working environment for the team as well as acting as a technical resource for team members.

This role offers the chance to make a real impact in worldwide operations. Your development helps shape a customer-facing product to operate, manage and optimise ports and terminals. Our SAFe agile teams enable you to have a voice meaning you are empowered to influence both technical and functional requirements.

The business is high growth and agile, so we are looking for someone who can operate at pace and have a growth mindset to enable our business to scale and innovate in the current software development landscape. You will use AI as a force multiplier rather than a substitute for technical expertise, combining deep software engineering fundamentals with the ability to critically assess, challenge, and refine AI-generated outputs to deliver high-quality solutions.

You will have strong analytical, critical, and creative skills with excellent communication skills both written and verbal. You will have proven experience in developing strong, credible business relationships with internal and external stakeholders as well as excellent planning and organising skills with a can-do- attitude and a solution-focused approach.
