Sr. Cloud Platform DevOps Engineer

R&D unit in KTI is responsible for developing digital services at KONE. It’s the development engine for our Digital Services such as KONE 24/7 Connected Services,  Office Flow and Partnership Ecosystem. 

We are looking for a Sr. Cloud Platform DevOps Engineer to help us to continue building & managing our cloud platform in AWS to support our digital products. Our landscape is quite interesting and large scale, punctuated with key technology areas such as IoT, machine learning, big data, artificial intelligence etc., to name a few. We will continue to expand our portfolio in AWS at scale. This role provides an excellent opportunity to be part of this amazing journey of building the new digital platform in AWS cloud, while working on interesting challenges with opportunities to continuously learn. 

·       Role description: 

·       Play a crucial role in contributing to the vision of proactive operations and engineering excellence in operations 

·       Contribute hands-on in the transformation, development and establishment of DevOps engineering practices in the organization 

·       Work in close collaboration between the global and regional DevOps units to streamline, standardize and enhance the DevOps practices and processes 

·       Being part of the DevOps digital delivery platforms & Cloud Operations CoE, this role will need to collaborate closely with units like Cybersecurity, Architecture and agile execution teams to build solutions addressing the common shared goals of the cloud platform  

·       Contribute to the high availability and operational efficiency of the solutions by pushing continuous improvements in application/infrastructure monitoring 

·       Hands-on contribution in critical aspects of cloud platform engineering like platform level cross region backup & restore, security, infrastructure as code, monitoring infrastructure etc., 

·       Contribute to platform scalability and operational architecture 

·       Provide continuous visibility of the operational efficiency to the organization through building and orchestrating automated data collection and visualization of key performance indicators  

·       Requirements: 

·       At least 5 years of experience in technical operation roles in complex projects/solutions 

·       Very good knowledge & hands-on experience in: 

o   Key foundational services in cloud platforms like AWS (preferred), Azure or Google Cloud Platform. Eg: AWS Control Tower 

o   Infrastructure-as-code toolchain (eg: AWS Cloud Formation/CDK/Terraform or similar) 

o   Setting up and managing modern monitoring tools (eg: AWS CloudWatch, Splunk etc.,) 

o   Setting up & managing CI/CD toolchain like Gitlab (preferred), Jenkins or similar in large projects with automated guard rails 

o   Git based SCM tools with best software development practices well versed in various branching, versioning & tagging strategies 

o   Platform engineering aspects like platform scalability, resilience, disaster recovery, security etc.,  

o   Strong scripting skills (Python) and ability to build scalable software delivery pipelines 

o   Prior experience in working on large scale production systems in technical operations and platform engineering 

·       Prior development experience in Java, JavaScript & TypeScript will be a plus 

·       Strong willingness and attitude to continuously learn and adapt 

One of KONE’s biggest R&D globally is in shanghai, China. The primary location of this role is Shanghai.
