Lead Engineer, Shaft Mechanics

We are now looking for a Lead Engineer, Shaft Mechanics to join one of the Elevator Mechanics and Light Materials Tribe agile teams for designing mechanical load bearing components and mechanical sub-systems at KONE Technology and Innovation / R&D in Hyvinkää, Finland.

Our tribe works in a hybrid model meaning that work is conducted partly from home office (couple of days a week) and partly from KONE Finland Hyvinkää office. Work can however also be fully conducted from Hyvinkää office alone, if more suitable for the selected candidate. Please notice that this role requires the selected candidate to live permanently in Finland.

Elevator Mechanics and Light Materials tribe is responsible for developing all mechanical elevator components in KONE portfolio globally and ensuring the safety, quality and performance of those components throughout their entire lifecycle. We are actively scouting for opportunities to create new value for our customers by implementing new innovative and more sustainable elevator designs. Lead engineers have a crucial role in executing the added customer value.

As a Lead Engineer, you will

-Be responsible for all design activities within the component portfolio of your agile team

-Be the leading engineer for the mechanical designers in your agile team

-Independently lead new design and change request initiatives forward within the global organization

-Collaborate closely with the other Elevator Mechanics tribe agile teams

-Collaborate closely with other R&D tribes and functions

-Cooperate with KONE frontlines, KONE supply chain and suppliers to ensure smooth elevator supply.

-Be part of KTI project development activities to ensure quality, safety, and cost competitiveness of elevator products.

To be successful in this position, you will 

-be able to independently lead new design and change request initiatives forward in the organization

-possess a curious mindset and a strong desire to bring customer benefit

-have capability to drive things forward even during challenging times

-be capable of reviewing designs, manufacturing drawings, collaborate and think innovative ways when guiding mechanical engineers during their work

Requirements for the role

- Having understanding of mechanical design criteria for load bearing structures and manufacturing methods

- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar

- Experienced user of 3D modelling software, such as, Creo

- Experienced user of MS Office tools, such as, Excel

- Proven skills in delivering good results on time even in complex cases with tight schedules

- Capability to lead in a fast-paced environment

-Disciplined working methods with willingness and ability to lead and work as a member of an international design team

- Passion for great service / customer experience

- Fluent in both written and spoken English, other language skills are a plus
