About the Role

As a Database Administrator, you will develop, test, deploy, and iteratively improve database capabilities, features and APIs. 

What You’ll Do

• Collaborate with software engineers, designers, product managers, end-users and other database team engineers

• Leverage critical thinking, experimentation, data, end-user feedback, and industry best practices to achieve desired business outcomes

• Develop and integrate high-quality database products that are secure, simple to use, easy to operate and fully integrated

• Manage all technical aspects related to the database product lifecycle, including code, infrastructure, data, security, CICD and documentation

• Contribute to database engineering and software development standards

• Enhance and simplify the database user experience for development teams

• Implement software engineering practices using tools that are both cloud-based and on-premises 

• Oversee all technical aspects of the database product lifecycle, including code, infrastructure, data, security, CICD and documentation 

• Create high-quality, secure, easy-to-use database products that enhance the development team's user experience

• Additional tasks may be assigned

• Passion for turning complex distributed systems into highly available, fully integrated and easy-to-use products

• Experience in development, infrastructure systems, infrastructure operations and infrastructure security

• Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies or techniques quickly

• Strong team player with a focus on contributing to team success

Preferred

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in MIS, Computer Science or related field

• Experience with object-oriented development using GitLab, Powershell, Python, Shell or Go

• 2+ years of experience in software or infrastructure platform development.

• Knowledge of application design patterns, event-driven architecture and testing strategies

• Experience with continuous integration, continuous deployment and test-driven development

• Experience working with major cloud platforms (GCP and/or AWS)

• Background working with infrastructure as code and GitOps methodologies

• Experience deploying, configuring, migrating, and supporting common stateful distributed systems, messaging, or database technologies such as Oracle, MSSQL, and MySQL. 

Preferred

• Experience with CloudSQL, MySQL, MongoDB and Redis
