Transmission Engineer
Location: Phoenix, AZ, US

Overview
Kimley-Horn's Phoenix, (AZ) office is seeking a Transmission Engineer with 4+ years of experience to join their Power Delivery team!
Responsibilities
- Design of Power Delivery Transmission Line systems.
- Perform structural analysis and design of monopole, lattice, framed, and guyed structures
- Participate in project teams in an active production role
- Participate in project meetings internally and externally with clients
- Preparation of conceptual and detailed calculations to support the creation of construction documents and specifications. These calculations may include foundation design, material quantities, and design of overhead power structures.
- Daily interaction and collaboration on cross-functional teams across multiple disciplines
- Coordination and verification of as-built drawings
- Perform quality work that promotes client retention
- Responsible for the development of reports and design documents
- Expected to assist in mentoring, training, and growing a team to expand our Power Delivery practice
- This is an in-person role
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in any of the following: transmissions, distributions, or communication line design
- Professional Engineering (P.E.) License (or ability to obtain within 12 months)
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
- Understanding of the National Electrical Code, National Electrical Safety Code, IEEE, and ANSI Standards
- Willingness to travel to support site visits and client meetings, as needed
- Ability to work in a team; both collaborating with and mentoring junior staff
- Ideal Qualifications
- Understanding of the National Electric Safety Code (NESC), Rural Utility Service (RUS) Electrical Bulletins, ASCE-7, or California General Order 95, and other ASCE/IEEE/CIGRE standards
- Transmission Line Modeling (PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole) experience
- Experience with lattice towers is a plus
