Space Systems CAD Modeler

Job Summary

KBR's National Security Solutions team is seeking a Space Systems CAD Modeler to support technical characterization and analysis of foreign satellite communications (SATCOM) and space systems. In this role, you will develop high-fidelity digital representations of spacecraft, payloads, and subsystem architectures that support engineering assessments, intelligence production, and mission decision-making. You will leverage advanced CAD modeling techniques and available technical data to create accurate visualizations of satellite systems, component integration, and constellation architectures. The position plays a critical role in translating complex technical information into actionable engineering products that support system characterization efforts. Success in this role requires attention to detail, strong configuration control practices, and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering and analysis teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop high-fidelity 3D CAD models of foreign spacecraft, communications payloads, satellite subsystems, and constellation architectures.
• Create detailed digital representations of spacecraft structures, component layouts, subsystem integration, and mission-relevant configurations.
• Translate engineering assessments, imagery, technical reporting, and collection data into accurate visual and engineering models.
• Produce Functional Analysis and Lifecycle Tracking (FALT) products that document system architectures, subsystem relationships, operational functions, and lifecycle characteristics.
• Generate technical illustrations, engineering graphics, cutaway views, and visualizations that support customer deliverables and technical reporting.
• Maintain model libraries, configuration baselines, and associated technical documentation to ensure consistency and traceability across projects.
• Incorporate new technical information, engineering findings, and system updates into existing digital models and characterization products.
• Support technical characterization of spacecraft, payloads, ground systems, and user segment architectures through visual and engineering modeling products.
• Ensure modeling products meet established quality, configuration management, and customer requirements.

Work Environment

• Location: TBD
• Travel Requirements: Minimal 0-20%
• Working Hours: Standard 40 hours per week

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Design, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience developing complex 3D CAD models using Siemens NX, CATIA, or SOLIDWORKS.
• Experience creating detailed engineering drawings, assemblies, and technical visualizations.
• Experience modeling aerospace, satellite, spacecraft, mechanical, or highly technical systems.
• Experience developing and maintaining configuration-controlled technical products and documentation.
• Active TS/SCI security clearance.

Desired

• Experience supporting space systems, satellite communications (SATCOM), aerospace, defense, or intelligence programs.
• Experience developing Functional Analysis and Lifecycle Tracking (FALT) products.
• Experience performing reverse engineering or creating models from imagery, technical documentation, or limited-source data.
• Familiarity with spacecraft subsystems including power, propulsion, communications payloads, and attitude determination and control systems (ADCS).
• Experience supporting digital engineering, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), or technical intelligence programs.
