Associate Mechanical Engineer

KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) provides holistic and value-added solutions across the entire asset life cycle. These include world-class licensed process technologies, differentiated advisory services, deep technical domain expertise, energy transition solutions, high-end design capabilities, and smart solutions to optimize planned and operating assets. 

KBR is looking for an entry level Mechanical Engineer that will contribute to the Mechanical Department by learning technical skills required for a mechanical engineer while assisting in providing valuable deliverables for our customers’ projects.

What to expect: In the Mechanical Department, you will gain practical experience to understand what a day in the life of a mechanical engineer looks like and perform tangible meaningful work to reinforce your skills as a mechanical engineer while making an impact on real world customers. 

Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to: 

  • Responsible for compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental plan; must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all of the Company’s safety policies and rules and must be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel 

  • Working with senior engineers to assist with

    • Preparations of specifications, datasheets, technical requisitions and technical bid evaluations.

    • Performing Design Calculations using PVElite and HTRI

    • The application of pressure vessels (ASME), tanks (API), heat exchangers (ASME), and rotating equipment (API) including compressors, turbines, and pumps and auxiliary systems.

    • Propose ideas, collaborate with the team, improve, and document/update the work process.

    • Attend customer site meetings and field walk downs

  • Crosstrain in other Engineering disciplines such as Environmental, Process Safety, and/or Furnaces 

  • Communicates and resolves technical issues as related to project assigned tasks 

  • Successfully communicates with leadership, engineers, designers, document control, and all other departments 

  • Ensures all project documentation for his/her own work is completed 

Required Education, Experience, & Skills: 

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering

  • 0-5 years’ experience in Mechanical Engineering

  • Ability to receive technical guidance from senior engineers 

  • Willingness to travel domestically or internationally a plus 

  • Software Experience with Office 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, TEAMs, SharePoint), Documentum, Autocad, and Adobe

  • Professional Engineer a plus 

  • Exposure to programming (any language) a plus 

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. 

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with team members, clients, and stakeholders. 

  • Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing project challenges. 

  • Attention to detail and the ability to ensure project documentation is accurate and up to date.
