The Role

As a Senior Automation Engineer with over 5 years of experience, you are primarily responsible for designing, developing, and implementing advanced UI automated testing solutions to ensure the quality and reliability of software applications. You will lead the UI automation efforts, providing technical guidance and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that best practices in UI automation testing are followed. Your role involves integrating UI automated tests into the development process, optimizing the CI/CD pipeline for front-end testing, and improving overall UI test coverage.

The Day-to-Day

  • Designing and Building UI Automation Infrastructure: Lead the architecture, planning, and development of the UI automation infrastructure and framework to support the development and deployment processes.
  • Collaborating with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with software QA, front-end developers, and DevOps engineers to ensure seamless integration of UI automated tests.
  • Defining UI Automation Methodologies: Develop and enforce UI automation methodologies, selecting the appropriate tools and frameworks to meet the organization's needs.
  • Developing and Applying UI Testing Processes: Implement and refine UI testing processes for both new and existing products to meet customer needs.
  • Identifying UI Quality Issues: Detect and track UI-specific bugs, and create detailed test reports to inform the development process.

Ideally, We’re Looking For

  • 5+ Years of Experience in Automation Development: Proven experience with UI automation frameworks and a strong background in developing Python-based frameworks for UI test automation.
  • Proficiency in UI Automation Tools: Expertise in tools such as Selenium, Cypress, or similar for automating front-end testing.
  • Python-Based UI Automation: Demonstrated experience in developing Python-based automation frameworks, particularly for UI testing.
  • Strong Scripting Skills: Proficiency in bash and shell scripting for UI test automation.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to articulate complex UI testing concepts to both technical and non-technical staff.

These Would Also Be Nice

  • Experience in Building UI Automation from Scratch: Previous experience in establishing UI automation frameworks and infrastructure from the ground up.
  • UI Testing in CI/CD Pipelines: Familiarity with integrating UI tests into CI/CD processes and source control systems, preferably with GitHub.
  • Knowledge of Cloud-Based Front-End Systems: Experience with testing UI in cloud environments, particularly AWS, and using DevOps tools like GitHub Actions and Jenkins.
