We are looking for a Software Engineer to work on the Active Assurance part of our Network Automation suite. The product includes tools for measuring both performance and quality that can be used to assure the network. This is packaged in an easy-to-use API & user interface which is deployed in a micro-service Kubernetes infrastructure.

The network measurements are performed by Test Agents deployed in the network, either as standalone hardware/virtual deployments, or running on Juniper routers. 

Controlling these Test Agents is done via an easy-to-use API and web application hosted by the Control Center which allows customers to design Tests quickly and intuitively for their network.

You will be working on the Control Center part of the product which is written in Go.

The Test Agent is written in C / C++.

You will be working in a cross-functional team environment, collaborating with people from many areas of expertise, ranging from cloud technology down to Junos running our most successful platforms including MX, ACX and PTX product lines. We have a diverse team spread across India, Europe & the US.

Responsibilities:

As a Software Engineer, you will be an integral part of the Juniper Network Automation Software Engineering team with the responsibilities including:

• Assist in design and implementation of micro-service-based cloud network monitoring application using Golang, Python & SQL deployed in a Kubernetes environment
• Write unit, integration & performance tests
• Create tools for testing & assisting in development of the product
• Document software designs and procedures
• Use of Juniper routers to develop network monitoring applications
• Assist with troubleshooting and root cause analysis of problems found, both in-process and escalations from the field
• Demonstrate exemplary behavior in following proper engineering processes to manage risks and systematically achieve high product quality
• Collaborate with cross functional teams

Minimum Qualifications: 

<Required Degree, Industry/Market experience, Functional/Technical experience, Minimum number of years work experience.

• BS or MS Data Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field
• 4-7 years of relevant Golang experience
• Hands on experience developing software, debugging, and deploying application on Linux operating systems, including git and shell
• Experience of designing REST APIs
• Aware of Agile / Scrum development environment
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Good verbal & written communication skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams and organization
• Experience with deployment Kubernetes, Docker containers, kubectl, Helm charts etc
• Micro service development, distributed systems

Preferred Qualifications:

• GRPC API, including GRPC Gateway experience
• Frontend experience of ReactJS &Typescript
• Developing multi-threaded applications
• Experience of Junos & other router operating systems
• Experience of the Netconf & configuring routers
• Network testing experience
• Knowledge of IP / UDP / TCP networks and protocols
• Working knowledge of Performance Measurement standards such as Y.1731, Y.1564, RFC 2544, TWAMP is a plus
• Experienced working on highly scalable system addressing CPU Performance & Bandwidth Utilization
• Experience of Time series databases such as Timescaledb, Victoria Metrics and others
• Experience of using Grafana, Prometheus, Victoria logs and other performance related tools
• Protocol buffers experience
• Experience of On-premises installations
• Coding skills in Python / Rust / C / C++ languages & low level programming in general
