Sr Director Sales Engineering – EMEA Enterprise Business
Location: Any major City in Northern Europe (Location flexible)
Job Description
Juniper Networks has an opening for a tried, effective and motivated technical-sales leader (Systems Engineering Sr Director). The position reports directly to the SVP, Global Solution Sales. The role will provide both team and business leadership with a focus on sales growth (SA), technical and operational excellence as well as team development.
The role holder will drive daily workflow as well as provide tactical and strategic leadership for the international team they will lead. The SE Sr Director should seek to be accountable for strategic field-engagements; architectural and multidimensional solution selling. He or she should aim to prioritise outcome-based technical engagements; team development and alignment of organizational capabilities in support of business priorities and NPI architectures, solutions, platforms and products primarily within the Enterprise segments.
Other important facets of the role also include but are not limited to development of standard methodologies; technology positioning; field/market advocacy and support and adoption of SE transformation initiatives as the market continues to evolve towards cloud, microservice applications and software driven networking solutions. The SED will embrace partnership and bring to bear key relationships with Juniper Corporate, Services and sales management seeking to be at the very centre of and influencing a coordinated go-to-market (GTM) strategy working together with the wider sales teams.
The chosen candidate will be an accomplished self-starter with leadership experience; adept at business diplomacy and dealing with sometimes difficult situations; aware of market trends and transitions; understand data network systems architecture and associated business value; have experience with collaborative/overlay business motions and possess a proven track record working in a matrix environment and possess excellent communication, presentation and organization skills.
Being a balanced professional, coming from a technical background but with an eye for business are fundamental for success.
The new hire will be encouraged to travel regionally and internationally to look after the best interests of their team. This may be up to 30% of the time.
Primary Responsibilities
- SE team leadership; business planning; setting goals and driving initiatives, strategy and executing plans that contribute to accelerating the achievement of EMEA Enterprise revenue targets
- Responsibility for recruiting, developing and retaining top talent at various levels for the technical sales team
- Holding Executive level relationships with senior customers and partners to evangelize the Juniper Networks technical strategy, advantages, capabilities, features and benefits.
- Structured technical enablement initiatives and sophisticated training including technical overviews, SE demonstrations, events, webinars, and NPI workshops
- Influence and mentoring of the SE community through sharing of technical experiences
- Alignment of team capabilities to focus areas and company imperatives
- Business operations and administrative functions

Qualifications
- 15+ years validated experience in technology/technical leadership roles with a strong background in IP; data center infrastructure; architecture; concepts and associated technologies including 5+ years in leading large technical sales teams. Second line management experience preferred.
- Detailed understanding of pre-sales engineering and sales stage processes including PoCs, validation and solution dependencies ideally within Enterprise market segments
- Familiarity with current networking and business models, trends, market dynamics and technological adjacencies (i.e. virtualization, software/OS, cloud services)
- Ability to assess, prioritize, assign and handle technical work streams to completion
- Proven strong written, oral and presentation skills with the ability to discuss highly technical concepts to a variety of audiences, including executive level technical decision-makers
- Strong interpersonal, organizational and collaborative work skills
- Minimum BS/BSE/EE degree in engineering / computer science or equivalent work experience in computing, software or network communications
