Data Science Engineer

This role is engaged in data science-related research and software application development and engineering duties related to our enterprise-grade Wi-Fi technology and autonomous platform to provide an unprecedented visibility into the user experience. 

The data scientist/developer will collaborate with other engineers and product managers to build the next generation of autonomous Wi-Fi networks leveraging big data and predictive models. This position requires experience in dealing with huge amounts of data generated by communication protocols. The developer will use his/her knowledge of wireless communication networks, machine learning and software engineering to develop and implement scalable algorithms to process a large amount of batched or streaming data to detect anomalies, predict problems, and classify them in real-time. In addition, the Software Engineer will leverage the data collected from the Wi-Fi network to empower the inference engine of our Mist platform and systems, including the Mist virtual assistant chat bot. The Software Engineer will also be responsible for determining the likelihood of failures across the Wi-Fi network and performing failure scope analysis.

Responsibilities:

• Utilize analytical and programming skills and open-source systems, such as Apache Storm, Apache Spark, Elasticsearch, Redis, etc. develop data processing pipeline required efficacy and latency
• Design and implement machine learning solutions which require to process terabytes of streaming data to detect anomalies in Wi-Fi networks of our customers, predict problems and future trends, classify them in real-time. 
• Analyze and organize raw data in JSON or Protobuf format, build data systems and pipelines and evaluate business needs and objectives
• Troubleshoot production environment and customer reported issues 
• R&D,  new method exploration 

Qualifications:

• Experience with data modeling, leveraging advanced machine learning /AI to deliver data driven insights at scale
• PhD in  in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Analytics, Mathematics, Physics, Applied Sciences, or a related field  preferred
• Proficient in python and Java programing languages
• Deep understanding of machine-learning, applying cut-edge technologies to real world applications
• Deep knowledge and experience of the big data tool sets and techniques of distributed storage and computation engine
• Require the agility to troubleshoot open-source data processing engine, such as Apache Spark and Apache Storm
• Knowledge on networking is a plus
• Experience on Reinforcement Learning is a plus
• Curiosity and keen to learn

Minimum Salary: $120,000.00

Maximum Salary:$172,500.00

The pay range for this position is expected to be between $120,000.00 and $172,500.00/year; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes medical benefits, 401(k) eligibility, vacation, sick time, and parental leave. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Juniper’s pay range data is provided in accordance with local state pay transparency regulations. Juniper may post different minimum wage ranges for permanent residency petitions pursuant to US Department of Labor requirements.
