About the Role
The Data Engineer will have a crucial role on the Enterprise Data and Analytics (EDA) team, an internal, cross-functional analytics team that supports stakeholders across all company’s business units, including Finance, Marketing, Sales, Growth, UX, Customer Success, and Product. The primary responsibility of this role is to support driving JumpCloud’s core reporting by developing data pipelines, curating and modeling data, and designing databases to enable insights and self-service across the analytics team and organization.
The Data Engineer will collaborate with analytics teams (EDA, embedded analysts), technical teams (Enterprise Support Systems, Platform Engineering, Software Engineering), and business stakeholders to develop and maintain data pipelines, curated data models, and database designs that will support business and analytics insights throughout the organization.
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about data and continuous improvement. They will have the ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects, ask insightful questions in an ambiguous environment, and coordinate execution across various stakeholders. A proactive and hands-on approach is essential, as JumpCloud is a lean and fast-moving company.
What you’ll be doing:
- Collaborating and driving impactful projects involving data pipelines, database design, data modeling, and data curation for optimized analytics and business use with involvement across various stakeholders, business units, and technical partners.
- Owning the outcomes of the analytics initiatives you’re leading. You’re not just a participant in the initiative, you hold yourself responsible for the outcome of the project.
- Gathering requirements and providing actionable recommendations to technical stakeholders, driving adoption and execution of recommendations.
- Mentoring and growing the other analysts and engineers across the organization. We’ve got a great organization full of a lot of potential, you’ll be helping the other members of the organization achieve their potential.
- Supporting team's project management, strategic decision-making, and long-term planning.
- Staying up-to-date on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data engineering, database design, data modeling, and data governance and applying them to support our business needs.
We’re looking for:
- Intermediate knowledge and experience in SQL and relational databases; Snowflake experience highly preferred.
- Intermediate knowledge in database design, data modeling, data infrastructure, data pipelines, and ELT process to support analytics and business operations. DBT, Airflow, Fivetran, AWS, and GitHub experiences are highly preferred.
- Intermediate understanding of coding and markup languages and can create complex queries from multiple data sources, views, and tables and have an understanding of our company's data architecture and how to apply it.
- Intermediate experience with scripting languages such as Python (numpy, pandas).
- Understanding of analytical skills and a passion for data storytelling and quantitative analysis.
- Understanding in one or more business Intelligence / data visualization tools; Tableau experience highly preferred.
- Mentoring skills.
- Strong attention to detail and desire to learn.
- Effective stakeholder management skills and communication skills.
- Effective project management and organizational skills; Agile experience is a plus.
- Experience with Data Governance best practices..
- Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, unstructured, dynamic environment.
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, or another quantitative field preferred.

This role is remote in the country of Mexico. You must be located in and authorized to work in Mexico to be considered for this role.
