Role Summary

The Senior Manager – Applied Projects will be responsible for managing a portfolio of HVAC and chiller projects in Gujarat, ensuring successful execution in line with project commitments related to cost, schedule, quality, revenue, and customer satisfaction. The role involves close coordination with project teams, customers, and internal stakeholders to drive project performance and timely closure.

Key Responsibilities

Project Portfolio Management

  • Manage and monitor a portfolio of 50–70 HVAC/chiller projects of varying sizes and execution stages.
  • Track project progress and ensure adherence to established project management processes and milestones.
  • Conduct regular project reviews and follow up on action plans to ensure timely execution.

Planning, Monitoring & Risk Management

  • Monitor project budgets, forecasts, and financial performance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify, track, and report project risks, opportunities, and issues in a timely manner.
  • Maintain project risk registers and issue logs and work with stakeholders to drive resolution.
  • Escalate critical concerns and support implementation of mitigation plans.

Project Execution

  • Ensure project execution is aligned with key performance parameters:
    • Cost
    • Schedule
    • Quality
    • Revenue
    • Customer Expectations
  • Support project teams in resolving execution challenges and achieving project objectives.
  • Drive timely progression of projects through defined toll gates and closure processes.

Customer & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Maintain regular communication with customers, consultants, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Monitor customer commitments and ensure timely closure of pending actions.
  • Assist in resolving project-related issues to maintain customer satisfaction.

Team Management

  • Guide project managers and execution teams in meeting project deliverables.
  • Provide support in planning, monitoring, and resolving operational challenges.
  • Promote adherence to company processes, compliance requirements, and best practices.

Commercial & Operational Controls

Support project teams in ensuring:

  • Schedule baseline approvals from customers during HOTO.
  • Deliveries and project milestones are achieved as per agreed schedules.
  • Revenue realization is in line with approved forecasts.
  • Timely invoicing and collection of payments.
  • Unbilled Revenue (UBR) remains within acceptable limits.
  • Accurate project status reporting and forecasting.

Required Experience & Skills

  • 10–15 years of experience in HVAC, chiller, or related project execution roles.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously in a customer-facing environment.
  • Good understanding of project management principles, including budgeting, planning, scheduling, and risk management.
  • Strong coordination, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to analyze project performance and take corrective actions where required.
  • Proficiency in project planning and reporting tools.
  • Should have managed 5-10 engineers/ managers in his present/ past roles.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Gross margin performance.
  • Collection and receivables management.
  • UBR control.
  • Quality and customer satisfaction metrics.
  • Timely closure of project risks and issues.
