Job Description

Design, install, upgrade, maintain, and tune Oracle 10g/11g DatabasesĀ 

* Ensure the availability, performance and scalability of the production database infrastructureĀ 

* Capacity planning, auditing, and database/application performance optimizationĀ 

* Perform backup/disaster recovery planning and executionĀ 

* Implement automation of ongoing administration and maintenance tasksĀ 

* Tune and improve application SQL code, database configuration parameters and system disk configurations * Review, recommend and enforce database best practices and standardsĀ 

* Generate UNIX shell and SQL (PL/SQL or similar) scriptsĀ 

* Provide 24/7 support for critical situations and take rotated on call coverageĀ 

* Evaluate & recommend new database technologiesĀ 

* Provide complete documentation on developed recommendations and solutionsĀ 


Required Skills:Ā 


* Must have at least 4-5 years of Oracle DBA experience with handling of medium or large database in a UNIX environmentĀ 

* Extensive experience with Oracle 10g and 11gĀ 

* Deep functional knowledge of Oracle Internals: engines, query plans, join mechanisms, statistics and optimizerĀ 

* Extensive experience and knowledge of Oracle technologies such as Partitioning, Dataguard, Streams, ASM, RAC and RMANĀ 

* Knowledge of SQL query performance tuning, explain plans, execution plans and histogramsĀ 

* Expertise in managing database objects like partition/non-partitioned tables and large indexesĀ 

* Experience with very large database systems (VLDB)Ā 

* Ability to work in a 24x7 customer facing environmentĀ 

* Strong problem solving skills and strong desire to learn new technologies.
