Join a high-impact engineering team responsible for shaping critical moments in the digital checkout experience, from customer-facing interfaces to the underlying orchestration and state management systems.
In this senior technical leadership role, you will define frontend architecture and long-term technical strategy to deliver fast, intuitive, and reliable checkout experiences.
You will drive the development of scalable web applications while establishing engineering standards that improve quality, maintainability, and operational excellence.
Working with JavaScript, TypeScript, and modern UI frameworks, you will lead complex technical initiatives that directly influence product performance and customer satisfaction.
You will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, analytics specialists, and engineers to translate business priorities into sustainable technical solutions.
Beyond hands-on development, you will mentor engineers, influence technical decisions across teams, and promote a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
This remote-first opportunity is ideal for an experienced frontend engineer who combines architectural expertise, strategic thinking, and a passion for building exceptional user experiences.

Accountabilities

    • Define and drive the team's long-term frontend technical strategy, establishing a roadmap that aligns engineering priorities with business objectives and high-impact product initiatives.

    • Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of next-generation checkout experiences, ensuring interfaces are fast, intuitive, accessible, and reliable.

    • Design, develop, and evolve complex web applications using modern declarative UI frameworks, including React or Vue, and technologies such as JavaScript and TypeScript.

    • Own the delivery of major features, foundational system components, and complex technical migrations or deprecations, developing clear execution plans and managing implementation risks.

    • Collaborate with product management, design, analytics, and engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle to align on requirements, technical trade-offs, and long-term sustainability.

    • Drive technical alignment across teams by defining scalable solutions, resolving architectural challenges, and advocating for consistent engineering practices.

    • Establish and promote high standards for code quality, system design, testing, code reviews, documentation, and maintainability.

    • Take ownership of system reliability and operational readiness by ensuring appropriate monitoring, alerting, incident triage processes, testing strategies, operational playbooks, and on-call practices are in place.

    • Identify opportunities to improve frontend performance, system resilience, developer productivity, and the overall customer checkout experience.

    • Act as a technical force multiplier by sharing expertise, influencing architectural decisions, and introducing engineering processes that improve team effectiveness.

    • Mentor and support engineers through constructive feedback, technical guidance, design discussions, and hands-on collaboration.

    • Communicate technical decisions, architectural principles, and engineering best practices through written proposals, technical presentations, and cross-team knowledge sharing.

    • Requirements

      • At least 8 years of experience designing, developing, and architecting web applications using declarative UI frameworks such as React or Vue.

      • Strong proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript, with a solid understanding of modern frontend engineering principles and application architecture.

      • Demonstrated experience leading the delivery of major features, foundational system components, or complex migrations and deprecations through well-defined technical strategies and execution plans.

      • Ability to write high-quality, maintainable, well-structured code that is easy for other engineers to understand, extend, and reuse.

      • Strong architectural judgment and the ability to navigate technical challenges at multiple levels, from low-level language behavior and implementation details to large-scale system design.

      • Proven ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments, break down complex problems, and make informed technical decisions with long-term implications.

      • Experience influencing technical direction, establishing engineering standards, and delivering solutions that have a meaningful impact beyond an individual team.

      • Strong understanding of software quality, testing, monitoring, operational reliability, and sustainable engineering practices.

      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts and collaborate effectively with globally distributed engineering and cross-functional teams.

      • A demonstrated commitment to continuous learning, incorporating feedback, and improving engineering practices through collaboration and reflection.

      • Experience mentoring engineers, providing constructive feedback, and contributing to the technical development of others.

      • A bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
