In this role, you will spearhead the development and implementation of observability tools that enhance the productivity of engineering teams. Your leadership will be crucial in driving performance, ensuring systems are resilient, and fostering an environment where engineers can thrive. You will work collaboratively across teams to provide technical guidance and improve operational efficiencies, all while working remotely. Your expertise will shape the technical landscape and support business objectives, allowing engineers to focus on critical challenges.
Accountabilities
- Manage and grow a team of engineers, conducting performance reviews and providing coaching.
- Define and execute the technical vision and roadmap for observability tools.
- Provide technical guidance on instrumentation, logging, metrics, and tracing.
- Enable rapid detection, debugging, and resolution of system failures.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to implement observability practices.
- Lead the development of internal tools and data pipelines for telemetry data.
- Manage relationships and costs with third-party observability software.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience leading software or site reliability engineering teams.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Deep understanding of observability pillars: logs, metrics, and traces.
- Strong background in designing and developing distributed systems.
- Proficient in programming languages such as Go, Python, or Typescript.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure like GCP, AWS, or Azure.
- Excellent communication skills to work effectively with diverse teams.
