The Software Engineer will build end-to-end solutions that bridge digital home design with materials catalogs, pricing, availability, and purchasing workflows.
You will work on complex, high-impact systems involving user experiences, backend architecture, data models, and business logic.
As an early member of a growing team, you will have significant ownership and influence over technical decisions and product direction.
The position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving ambiguous problems, building scalable platforms, and creating intuitive experiences for users.
You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams while contributing to innovative solutions at the intersection of technology, design, and construction.

Accountabilities:

The Software Engineer, Materials will take ownership of designing, developing, and scaling software solutions that support a new materials and purchasing platform. This role requires strong technical execution, product thinking, and the ability to solve complex system challenges.

    • Build and maintain full-stack product features across user interfaces, APIs, business logic, and data models.
    • Develop systems that connect digital home designs with real-world products, materials, pricing, inventory, and purchasing workflows.
    • Design and implement rule engines that manage pricing logic, availability requirements, and complex product selection constraints.
    • Enhance and expand data models to support connections between design decisions and physical product purchases.
    • Create scalable, maintainable architectures that support the growth of a new product vertical.
    • Build configuration and selection experiences that help users navigate complex and interconnected choices.
    • Optimize backend performance through query improvements, indexing strategies, resolving performance bottlenecks, and system scaling.
    • Develop advanced search, filtering, and querying capabilities across large product catalog datasets.
    • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to deliver intuitive, reliable, and high-quality user experiences.
    • Take ownership of technical challenges from discovery through implementation and continuous improvement.
    • Requirements:

The ideal candidate is a versatile software engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys building new products from the ground up, and combines strong technical skills with thoughtful user experience considerations.

      • 5+ years of full-stack software engineering experience building production-quality, user-facing applications.
      • Strong professional experience with React, SQL, API design, and database query optimization.
      • Proven ability to design and build scalable, extensible software systems.
      • Experience developing configuration tools, customization experiences, or rule-based systems.
      • Strong understanding of UX principles and the ability to reason through complex user workflows and constraints.
      • Ability to work independently, manage ambiguity, and take ownership of projects from concept to delivery.
      • Entrepreneurial mindset with enthusiasm for building new products and solving challenging problems.
      • Strong communication and collaboration skills within cross-functional engineering and product teams.
      • Preferred qualifications:

        • Experience with 3D platforms, CAD systems, or visual design tool ecosystems.
        • Familiarity with catalogs, procurement systems, e-commerce platforms, or materials and pricing data.
        • Experience working in startup environments with rapidly evolving requirements.
        • Benefits:

          • Competitive salary package with meaningful equity opportunities.
          • Fully remote work environment with flexible working hours.
          • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage for full-time U.S.-based employees.
          • Flexible paid time off to support work-life balance.
          • Paid maternity and paternity leave.
          • Short-term and long-term disability coverage.
          • 401(k) retirement plan.
          • Home office stipend to help create an effective remote workspace.
          • Opportunity to contribute to an innovative, high-growth company building technology for the future of home design and construction.
