Accountabilities:

As a Software Engineer-III, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and improving backend systems while guiding technical decisions within your area of ownership. You will collaborate with engineering leaders, product teams, and operational stakeholders to build scalable solutions that support complex ecommerce and fulfillment workflows.

• Lead the technical design and implementation of backend services across areas such as inventory management, order routing, warehouse operations, shipment tracking, returns, and client integrations.
• Translate complex business requirements into clear technical plans, ensuring solutions align with broader platform architecture and long-term scalability goals.
• Build and maintain reliable backend systems using modern engineering practices, including APIs, databases, distributed systems, and cloud-native architectures.
• Drive AI-enabled capabilities within assigned workflows, helping integrate forecasting, anomaly detection, and automation features into production systems.
• Collaborate with data and engineering teams to transform machine learning outputs into practical and reliable operational solutions.
• Provide technical guidance through code reviews, architecture discussions, mentoring, and knowledge sharing with other engineers.
• Improve engineering quality by establishing strong practices around testing, observability, documentation, reliability, and technical debt management.
• Participate in cross-functional discussions with product, operations, and engineering stakeholders to communicate trade-offs, risks, and technical decisions.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced backend engineer with strong technical foundations, the ability to influence engineering decisions, and experience building scalable production systems. You should be comfortable working in fast-paced environments where requirements evolve and technical ownership is highly valued.

• 6–8+ years of experience building and delivering production-grade backend systems.
• Experience leading technical direction for a team, project, or workstream through architecture reviews, mentoring, or engineering standards.
• Strong knowledge of backend engineering fundamentals, including APIs, data modeling, databases, distributed systems, and service design.
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, and designing cloud-native applications.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures, including queues, streams, and asynchronous processing.
• Strong debugging, testing, monitoring, and production support experience.
• Ability to make sound technical decisions and influence teams without formal management authority.
• Experience with ecommerce, order management, inventory, warehouse management, logistics, or fulfillment systems is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with EDI standards, third-party integrations, or warehouse management system patterns is a plus.
• Exposure to integrating machine learning outputs such as predictions, forecasts, or anomaly scores into application workflows is beneficial.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially in distributed and remote work environments.
• Ability to balance hands-on engineering contributions with technical leadership responsibilities.
