Software Engineer — Agentic Search Systems

Accountabilities:

• Develop, optimize, and maintain production-grade systems supporting agentic search and AI-powered retrieval.
• Evaluate the accuracy, depth, relevance, and reasoning quality of AI-generated content within search experiences.
• Own and improve search relevance and retrieval components for systems serving real users.
• Design and implement improvements that enhance retrieval quality, search performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Build and scale data infrastructure capable of supporting modern search systems and increasingly sophisticated retrieval workflows.
• Develop approaches for measuring and quantifying the impact of search and retrieval improvements.
• Analyze system performance and user-facing outcomes to identify opportunities for optimization and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate closely with AI research teams to measure model and search-system improvements and translate research insights into production capabilities.
• Apply strong engineering judgment when balancing relevance, latency, scalability, reliability, and overall system performance.
• Work independently and asynchronously while managing priorities and consistently delivering high-quality technical work.

Requirements:

• Demonstrated experience shipping production search systems used by real users.
• Proven ownership of search relevance or retrieval systems, including responsibility for measurable improvements.
• Ability to quantify the impact of engineering changes through appropriate metrics, experimentation, and performance analysis.
• Hands-on experience building or improving systems related to agentic search, AI-powered search, retrieval, or intelligent information access.
• Experience designing and scaling data infrastructure that supports modern search and retrieval systems.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and the ability to build reliable, scalable production systems.
• Experience working with complex data pipelines, retrieval architectures, search infrastructure, or large-scale information systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on measurable outcomes and continuous optimization.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with AI researchers, engineers, and other technical stakeholders.
• Comfortable working independently in a remote, asynchronous environment while managing deadlines and technical priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical decisions and system improvements clearly.
• Previous experience with large-scale AI, machine learning, LLM, retrieval-augmented generation, or evaluation systems is a plus.
