Team: IT

Location: US

Commitment: Full-time

Workplace Type: remote

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Developer (UI/UX) based in United States.

This role offers the opportunity to design, develop, test, and maintain user-facing applications supporting critical Department of Defense and Department of Navy information technology initiatives. You will translate business and technical requirements into functional, intuitive web applications and interfaces. The position combines software development with UI/UX expertise, working across modern web technologies and object-oriented programming environments. You will contribute throughout the development lifecycle, from design and coding through testing, debugging, upgrades, and release. The role also involves collaborating with other developers through shared code repositories and structured code review practices. Your work will directly contribute to reliable, secure, and efficient systems used in mission-critical environments.

Accountabilities

    • Develop and refine requirements for new and existing business systems, translating functional needs into effective software solutions and user interfaces.
    • Design, code, test, and release significant enhancements to existing systems, including new or revised interfaces connecting applications, platforms, equipment, and software.
    • Develop and deliver web-based user interfaces based on product-owner requirements, including creating new applications and modifying existing applications.
    • Build web application interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript while applying sound UI/UX principles across supported platforms.
    • Develop software using a high-level object-oriented programming language such as Java or .NET, using an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) to write, debug, and maintain code.
    • Create source-control branches, merge code, and collaborate with other developers within shared codebases using tools such as Git.
    • Develop and maintain unit tests for coded functionality and participate in design discussions and code reviews to support software quality and maintainability.
    • Troubleshoot and support web applications across multiple browsers, including Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.
    • Plan and execute application version upgrades to meet authorized system-use deadlines and other operational requirements.
    • Set up, configure, and operate web application servers while supporting the ongoing reliability and maintenance of assigned systems.
    • Review application code and data for potential security vulnerabilities and follow established safety and security standards throughout development activities.
    • Requirements

      • Hold an accredited Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related discipline; additional relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the degree.
      • Bring at least five years of experience with the required software development technologies and demonstrated experience translating application requirements into fully functional software solutions.
      • Have practical experience participating in software design discussions, code reviews, unit testing, debugging, and maintaining production-quality applications.
      • Demonstrate proficiency with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and a high-level object-oriented programming language such as Java or .NET.
      • Have experience working with Integrated Development Environments (IDEs), source-control systems such as Git, shared codebases, and web application servers.
      • Demonstrate a UI/UX background across multiple platforms, with experience creating or working with banners, icons, and other visual interface elements.
      • Experience with design and creative software such as Adobe Creative Cloud Suite and Microsoft Visio is preferred.
      • Demonstrate an understanding of secure software development practices, including identifying potential vulnerabilities and maintaining appropriate security standards.
      • Possess at least one DoD 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification or qualification, such as CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CompTIA Security+ CE, CND, or SSCP.
      • Be a U.S. citizen and hold an active Department of Defense security clearance.
      • Demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within a shared development environment.
      • Benefits

        • Annual base salary of $75,000–$83,000 for positions based in Colorado or Washington.
        • Regular full-time employment with the opportunity to contribute to mission-critical government technology initiatives.
        • Professional development opportunities through work involving software engineering, UI/UX, cybersecurity, and enterprise application environments.
        • The salary offered may vary based on factors including responsibilities, professional experience, education and training, technical skills, market conditions, and business considerations.
