The Senior Software Engineer will work closely with a global, distributed development team, collaborating with product management, QA, and stakeholders to transform complex requirements into reliable, secure, and high-performance software. The position involves full-stack development, microservices architecture, cloud technologies, and the handling of sensitive data in compliance with regulatory standards. This is a hands-on role that balances technical leadership with mentoring junior engineers and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. Accountabilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain full-stack software applications and microservices to support lab operations, clinical trials, and business applications.
- Collaborate with architecture, product management, and QA teams to ensure scalable and reliable system design.
- Review code, provide mentorship, and guide junior engineers on best practices and technical standards.
- Translate stakeholder requirements into functional, secure, and extensible applications.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle including design, development, deployment, and production support.
- Contribute to process improvements, evangelize best practices, and support compliance initiatives related to handling PHI and secure data.
- Maintain documentation, training, and knowledge sharing to support technical and operational excellence.
- BS degree in Computer Science, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 7+ years of software development experience, with expertise in building secure and scalable web applications.
- Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming in Java and experience with frameworks such as Spring and Hibernate.
- Experience with cloud technologies (AWS preferred), containerization (Docker), and RESTful APIs.
- Proficiency in relational databases (MySQL or PostgreSQL) and microservice architecture.
- Experience with front-end technologies such as React, Sass, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS a plus.
- Familiarity with CI/CD processes, Linux fundamentals, and quality assurance best practices.
- Excellent analytical, communication, presentation, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to operate in a regulated environment and maintain compliance with privacy and security standards.
