Senior Software Development Engineer (Backend)

Accountabilities

• Design, develop, maintain, and optimize backend applications using modern technologies including Node.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, cloud platforms, and database systems.
• Build scalable APIs, integrations, and backend services while ensuring reliability, performance, security, and maintainability.
• Develop and enhance software features, improve existing processes, and contribute to continuous platform innovation.
• Perform day-to-day maintenance, troubleshooting, data manipulation, migrations, reporting, and support activities across existing applications.
• Design, implement, and maintain RESTful APIs, third-party integrations, and proprietary platform services.
• Conduct detailed code reviews, promote engineering best practices, and support the technical growth of junior engineers through mentorship.
• Collaborate closely with engineering leadership and cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to provide technical support and resolve critical production issues when needed.
• Communicate technical concepts clearly with engineering teams, leadership, and other stakeholders.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional experience in backend software development, with strong expertise in Node.js environments.
• Advanced proficiency in TypeScript and JavaScript, with experience building production-grade applications.
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL database design, optimization, and data management practices.
• Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and backend service architectures.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, with strong preference for Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Experience with Express.js or similar backend frameworks.
• Familiarity with Docker, containerization, authentication, authorization patterns, and secure software development practices.
• Experience with Elasticsearch, microservices architecture, message queues, performance optimization, and serverless technologies is highly preferred.
• Exposure to AI/ML API integrations, third-party APIs, background processing, Firebase, or document processing technologies is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in an agile, collaborative environment.
