Accountabilities:

As a Senior Server Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and evolving scalable backend systems while helping establish engineering best practices across the platform. You will contribute to architecture, mentor fellow engineers, and ensure services remain secure, resilient, and highly available.

Key responsibilities include:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend applications using Java and enterprise frameworks such as Spring Boot, Hibernate, and similar technologies.
• Build scalable microservices capable of supporting high-volume, highly available production environments.
• Design and maintain RESTful APIs and service-to-service communication patterns.
• Develop event-driven architectures using asynchronous messaging technologies such as Kafka.
• Build resilient integrations with internal platforms and third-party services while ensuring reliability, monitoring, and operational excellence.
• Define and evolve backend event contracts, payload schemas, and integration standards to support downstream systems and analytics.
• Drive API governance, versioning strategies, and architectural consistency across backend services.
• Identify opportunities to reduce technical debt, modernize legacy systems, and improve platform scalability.
• Implement best practices for automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, observability, security, and production reliability.
• Lead production incident investigations, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term improvements.
• Conduct code reviews, participate in design discussions, mentor engineers, and support hiring and onboarding initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Analytics, Data Engineering, Infrastructure, and cross-functional engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced backend engineer with strong expertise in distributed systems, microservices, and modern cloud-native development. You should be comfortable leading technical initiatives while remaining hands-on with software design and implementation.

Required qualifications and skills include:

• 8+ years of professional software development experience with a strong focus on backend engineering.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
• Advanced Java development experience using Spring Boot, Hibernate, Dropwizard, or comparable frameworks.
• Proven expertise designing distributed systems and microservice architectures.
• Strong experience building RESTful APIs and backend integration services.
• Deep understanding of event-driven architectures and messaging platforms such as Kafka.
• Experience working with relational databases, including PostgreSQL and Oracle.
• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git-based development workflows, and DevOps practices.
• Strong understanding of observability, including monitoring, logging, tracing, metrics, and production diagnostics.
• Experience making architectural decisions and leading technical discussions across engineering teams.
• Proven ability to mentor developers and contribute to Agile development environments.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Strong ownership mindset with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred qualifications include:

• Experience with AWS cloud services and infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Familiarity with Redis or other distributed caching technologies.
• Understanding of mobile application architecture and mobile platform integrations.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for business needs.
