Accountabilities:

The Senior Open Source Design Engineer will lead the creation of sophisticated product experiences that combine strong design principles with modern frontend engineering practices. This role requires ownership of user experience, interaction patterns, and technical implementation while collaborating across teams to build products for AI developers and agents.

• Design and build advanced product interfaces supporting AI development, evaluation, monitoring, and observability workflows.
• Create intuitive user journeys and interactive visualizations for complex technical concepts such as embeddings, traces, evaluation results, and agent workflows.
• Develop reusable design system components, templates, and interface patterns from concept through production.
• Define and improve Agent Experience (AX) patterns, including interaction contracts, human-in-the-loop workflows, and agent-friendly product surfaces.
• Enable AI agents to navigate, query, and interact with product environments while maintaining usability, safety, and clarity.
• Prototype new AI-powered features and interface concepts to improve visibility into AI system performance and behavior.
• Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate prototyping while maintaining accessibility, consistency, and high-quality craftsmanship.
• Collaborate closely with engineering and product teams to balance user needs, technical constraints, and scalable implementation.
• Contribute to open-source communities and promote effective async collaboration practices.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate combines strong frontend engineering expertise with exceptional product design skills and a deep curiosity about AI systems. You should be comfortable operating independently, exploring ambiguous problems, and creating polished experiences from early concepts to production-ready solutions.

• Strong experience with frontend engineering, particularly React and TypeScript, combined with strong design intuition.
• Deep understanding of interaction design, information architecture, and developer experience principles.
• Experience designing and shipping products for technical users, ideally within AI, developer tools, or complex software environments.
• Ability to understand AI workflows, agent systems, evaluations, and observability concepts, with willingness to continuously learn.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design work, including system-level thinking and attention to detail.
• Experience creating prototypes quickly and iterating toward refined, production-quality experiences.
• Ability to work autonomously in fast-paced environments with limited structure or predefined processes.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills when partnering with engineers, product teams, and technical stakeholders.
