Senior Linux Graphics Engineer

Team: IT

Location: US

Commitment: Full-time

Workplace Type: remote

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Linux Graphics Engineer based in United States.

This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of autonomous systems by building high-performance rendering technology for advanced simulation environments.
You will lead critical cross-platform graphics initiatives, including a major Linux and Vulkan migration from development through production.
The position sits within a highly technical graphics team focused on solving complex challenges in real-time rendering and machine perception.
You will work on systems where accuracy, reproducibility, and performance directly impact next-generation autonomous technologies.
The role combines deep graphics engineering with collaboration across infrastructure, simulation, and machine learning teams.
You will have the autonomy to drive impactful projects while contributing to innovative rendering solutions at scale.

Accountabilities:

The Senior Linux Graphics Engineer will take ownership of complex rendering initiatives, ensuring platform reliability, performance, and scalability. This role requires deep technical expertise, independent problem-solving, and collaboration across engineering teams to advance graphics capabilities for simulation platforms.

    • Lead the migration of a real-time renderer from Windows to Linux using Vulkan, ensuring production-quality output across supported camera, lidar, and radar configurations.
    • Diagnose and resolve differences between graphics backends, including memory usage, shader compilation, synchronization, driver behavior, and rendering artifacts.
    • Develop comparison frameworks, regression tests, and validation tools to guarantee consistent rendering results across platforms.
    • Establish GPU and CPU profiling workflows on Linux, identify performance bottlenecks, and implement optimization strategies.
    • Contribute to advanced rendering initiatives involving wide-angle rendering, multi-view systems, scene reconstruction, lighting, and GPU workload optimization.
    • Collaborate with infrastructure, build, and simulation teams to ensure seamless integration across containerized applications, cloud GPU environments, and development pipelines.
    • Apply AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding, debugging, documentation, and engineering workflows.
    • Drive technical decisions independently while communicating complex graphics concepts clearly across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Requirements:

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in real-time graphics engineering, strong knowledge of modern rendering technologies, and the ability to deliver complex projects in a highly autonomous environment.

      • 7+ years of experience in real-time graphics, engine programming, or related fields, with experience delivering production-level software.
      • Strong production experience with Vulkan, including render paths, memory management, descriptor handling, synchronization, validation, and debugging.
      • Proven experience developing and shipping graphics software on Linux, including knowledge of GPU drivers, shader toolchains, containers, and debugging workflows.
      • Advanced proficiency in modern C++ and experience navigating large-scale codebases with complex build systems and CI pipelines.
      • Demonstrated ability to analyze and optimize GPU and CPU performance using tools such as RenderDoc, Nsight, or equivalent profiling solutions.
      • Experience independently driving technically challenging projects from initial design through successful delivery.
      • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex graphics concepts and trade-offs effectively.
      • Experience with Unreal Engine on Linux, Vulkan RHI, render pipelines, and engine internals is highly desirable.
      • Familiarity with open-source graphics ecosystems such as Mesa, DXVK/VKD3D, Proton, SPIR-V tooling, or Vulkan validation layers is a plus.
      • Experience with cross-API rendering migrations, low-latency graphics, cloud rendering, sensor simulation, or neural rendering technologies is beneficial.
      • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in computer science, engineering, or related disciplines.
      • Benefits:

        • Competitive base salary range of $155,000 to $175,000, depending on skills, qualifications, and experience.
        • Equity participation opportunities.
        • Fully remote work within North America.
        • Flexible paid vacation and sick time policies.
        • Winter shutdown period and 11+ paid holidays per year.
        • Employer-paid medical, mental health, dental, and vision benefits.
        • Paid parental leave.
        • Equipment budget to optimize your remote workspace.
        • Annual learning and development stipend.
        • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge autonomous technology with a collaborative and highly skilled engineering team.
