Success in this role requires strong analytical judgment, communication skills, technical expertise, and the ability to work independently in a collaborative environment.
Accountabilities
- Lead structured requirements-gathering sessions with internal and external stakeholders through interviews, workshops, surveys, and collaborative working sessions to define data, reporting, and analytical needs.
- Translate ambiguous business questions into clear analytical requirements, user stories, technical specifications, and actionable solutions.
- Design and implement database structures that support application and business requirements, including schemas, tables, views, and indexes.
- Optimize database performance and ensure data is stored, retrieved, validated, and maintained efficiently.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation covering database configurations, processes, procedures, business requirements, data definitions, dashboard specifications, and change histories.
- Establish and enforce data validation, quality assurance, accuracy, consistency, and governance practices across analytical products.
- Perform exploratory and diagnostic data analysis using SQL and, where appropriate, Python or R to uncover trends, patterns, root causes, and business opportunities.
- Design, build, and iterate on prototypes and proof-of-concept dashboards to validate requirements before full-scale development.

- Facilitate stakeholder review sessions and incorporate feedback through iterative development cycles, preferably within Agile/Scrum environments.
- Collaborate with software developers, system architects, analysts, and other technical teams to integrate databases and analytical solutions with applications.
- Present findings, insights, recommendations, and data-driven narratives to both technical audiences and executive leadership.
- Build trusted relationships with cross-functional stakeholders and serve as a strategic advisor on data-driven decision-making.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, automate recurring activities, and expand self-service analytics capabilities.
- Mentor junior analysts and contribute to best practices in requirements gathering, data storytelling, dashboard design, and analytical delivery.
- Independently manage assigned initiatives from requirements through implementation while proactively resolving challenges with minimal oversight.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 6 years of experience in business or data analysis, including demonstrated experience in requirements gathering and stakeholder management.
- Strong proficiency in SQL for data extraction, transformation, analysis, and database-related work.
- Proven experience developing dashboards and data visualizations with Power BI, Tableau, Looker, Qlik, or similar platforms.
- Experience creating prototypes, wireframes, or proof-of-concept solutions to validate analytical requirements before full development.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to investigate complex issues and develop practical, data-driven solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate technical concepts and analytical findings for non-technical stakeholders and executives.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders, priorities, projects, and deadlines simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of deliverables, and proactively resolve challenges while also collaborating effectively across technical and business teams.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Common Access Card (CAC).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance; an active Secret clearance is preferred.
- Experience with Python or R for data manipulation and statistical analysis is preferred.

- Experience within the defense industry or supporting government-related programs is a plus.
- Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
- Remote work opportunity within the United States.
- Strong emphasis on work-life balance and maintaining a healthy mix of professional and personal priorities.
- Opportunities for career growth and advancement within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
- Exposure to cutting-edge technologies and challenging data, analytics, and infrastructure projects.
