This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Database Administrator based in United States.

This role provides senior-level database administration for production applications and software development environments within a cloud-based infrastructure.
You will manage critical MySQL and PostgreSQL databases across AWS services, ensuring reliability, security, performance, and scalability.
The position combines hands-on database engineering with lifecycle management, performance optimization, backup strategy, and security administration.
You will work closely with application teams, solution delivery professionals, database administrators, and business stakeholders to support evolving technology needs.
Your expertise will help shape database architectures, capacity planning, authentication practices, and change management decisions.
This is an opportunity for an experienced database professional to contribute to enterprise-scale systems while solving complex technical challenges in a collaborative environment.

Accountabilities

    • Administer MySQL and PostgreSQL database engines running within the AWS Cloud, including Amazon RDS and related managed services.
    • Install, configure, maintain, and optimize database instances, including RDS Parameter Groups, Option Groups, engine upgrades, and security patches.
    • Manage database security, authentication, permissions, and privileges in accordance with application and database requirements, including IAM database authentication and VPC security groups.
    • Develop and maintain database objects such as tables, views, and indexes while optimizing PostgreSQL vacuum processes and MySQL buffer pool settings.
    • Monitor database health and performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning and optimization measures.
    • Develop, maintain, and validate database backup strategies to support availability, recovery, and operational requirements.
    • Provide technical support to application development teams, database owners, and other stakeholders for database and application-related issues.
    • Maintain and execute Database Lifecycle Management processes according to customer specifications and established standards.
    • Assess proposed application and database changes, providing impact analysis and identifying potential performance, capacity, or operational implications.
    • Provide schedule, resource, and implementation requirements for proposed application and database changes.
    • Develop database sizing recommendations based on expected user and data growth, server memory requirements, and projected performance characteristics.
    • Participate in technical meetings with solution delivery teams and business stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with other database administrators to optimize database environments, server clusters, replication, backup strategies, and database services.
    • Support data management activities including data scrubbing, masking, comparison, and review.
    • Contribute to improvements in database authentication robustness and overall security practices.
    • Requirements

      • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Science, or a related discipline.
      • 15+ years of relevant professional experience in database administration or a closely related field.
      • Extensive enterprise-level experience administering MySQL 5.7/8.0 and/or PostgreSQL 12–16.
      • Significant hands-on experience with Amazon RDS or Aurora managed database services.
      • Deep understanding of Linux-based database environments and open-source database internals.
      • Strong knowledge of Database Lifecycle Management (DLM) processes.
      • Experience with data scrubbing, data masking, data comparison, and data review.
      • Experience strengthening database user and system authentication mechanisms.
      • Experience working with AWS and/or Azure cloud environments.
      • Strong understanding of database performance tuning, security, backup strategies, replication, and capacity planning.
      • Relevant professional or technical certification is preferred.
      • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to evaluate technical impacts and recommend effective solutions.
      • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with technical teams, application owners, and stakeholders.
      • Ability to successfully obtain and maintain a U.S. Suitability/Public Trust Background Clearance.
