Accountabilities:

The Senior+ Backend Software Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and scaling backend systems that support core product experiences. This role requires strong technical ownership, architectural thinking, and close collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and innovative solutions.

• Build and maintain robust backend services and APIs supporting web and mobile applications using Node.js and TypeScript.
• Design scalable and reliable architectures capable of supporting millions of users and high-volume interactions.
• Lead technical decisions and contribute to system architecture, engineering standards, and long-term platform evolution.
• Take ownership of key components, features, or systems, developing deep technical expertise and ensuring end-to-end delivery.
• Develop and optimize core user experiences, including real-time interactions, live features, bidding systems, and checkout workflows.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and infrastructure teams to deliver scalable and user-focused solutions.
• Successfully lead large-scale engineering initiatives while maintaining high-quality standards and consistent execution.
• Improve deployment reliability, engineering processes, and backend performance through continuous optimization.
• Contribute to solving complex technical challenges and driving innovation within a fast-moving product environment.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate is a highly experienced backend engineer with a strong foundation in scalable systems, distributed architecture, and modern development practices. You should be comfortable owning complex technical initiatives, collaborating across teams, and operating in an evolving startup environment.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin.
• 5+ years of experience building highly scalable, reliable backend infrastructure and production systems.
• Strong experience with backend development using Node.js and TypeScript.
• Proven ability to design, build, and maintain APIs and services at scale.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, and engineering best practices.
• Experience taking ownership of complex features or technical components from design through delivery.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with product, design, and infrastructure teams.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to navigate ambiguous technical challenges.
• Experience with payment systems is preferred.
• Experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native infrastructure is preferred.
