Accountabilities:

As a Ruby on Rails Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality applications while contributing to technical decisions and engineering improvements. You will work on scalable backend solutions, ensure application reliability, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful features.

• Develop, maintain, and enhance Ruby on Rails applications, APIs, and backend services.
• Build scalable business logic using Rails conventions, ActiveRecord, controllers, and service-oriented patterns.
• Design and maintain RESTful APIs and integrate third-party services and external platforms.
• Collaborate with frontend developers when working with technologies such as React, Vue, or Stimulus.
• Participate in feature development from planning and architecture discussions through deployment.
• Design and optimize PostgreSQL or MySQL database structures, queries, and indexes.
• Implement caching strategies using technologies such as Redis, Memcached, or similar solutions.
• Manage background processing workflows using Sidekiq, Resque, or equivalent frameworks.
• Develop and maintain automated tests, ensuring strong coverage and application reliability.
• Participate in code reviews, improve engineering standards, and maintain clean, scalable codebases.
• Support CI/CD workflows, deployment processes, and production troubleshooting.
• Monitor application performance, improve reliability, and implement security best practices.

Requirements:

We are looking for an experienced backend engineer with strong Ruby on Rails expertise and a passion for building reliable, maintainable software. The ideal candidate combines technical depth, problem-solving ability, and independence with strong collaboration skills.

• 3+ years of professional experience developing applications with Ruby on Rails.
• Strong knowledge of Ruby, Rails, ActiveRecord, and MVC architecture.
• Experience working with PostgreSQL or MySQL databases.
• Experience with background job frameworks such as Sidekiq or Resque.
• Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and backend application architecture.
• Experience with Git workflows and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience writing automated tests using RSpec, Minitest, Capybara, or similar frameworks.
• Knowledge of application performance optimization, debugging, and production support.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in remote teams.
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and take ownership of technical challenges.

Nice to have:

• Experience integrating Rails applications with React, Vue, or Stimulus.
• Experience deploying applications using AWS, GCP, Heroku, or similar cloud platforms.
• Familiarity with Redis, Memcached, Docker, Kubernetes, or modern DevOps practices.
• Experience building SaaS, fintech, healthcare, or e-commerce applications.
• Experience improving engineering workflows, architecture, and technical processes.
