In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for evolving the Database Platform Engineering team into a cutting-edge operation that delivers self-service and automation-first capabilities. Your leadership will directly impact the technical strategy and operating model, enhancing the reliability and efficiency of data operations. You'll work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to establish standardized processes that reduce complexity for developers and increase the overall effectiveness of data management. Accountabilities
- Set the technical strategy and operating model for the database platform engineering team.
- Grow and develop engineering talent while fostering a culture of collaboration and improvement.
- Partner with product engineering, analytics, AI, and security to create 'paved roads' for relational and NoSQL workloads.
- Drive measurable improvements in developer experience, reliability, and cost efficiency through automation.
- Attract and retain top engineering talent while implementing modern AI-assisted SDLC practices.
- Facilitate durable partnerships across various teams within the organization.
Requirements
- 5+ years of leadership experience in software-focused environments.
- Strong background in data infrastructure and platforms, including RDBMS and NoSQL.
- Public cloud experience (AWS and/or GCP) with a focus on automation and infrastructure-as-code.
- Capability in utilizing AI tools to optimize workflows and reduce manual tasks.
- High sense of ownership and willingness to mentor and coach team members.
- Ability to adapt communication styles to different audiences, from team members to executives.
- Commitment to operational excellence and continuous improvement.
