Lead Software Engineer, Cloud Site Reliability (SRE)

Team: IT

Location: India

Commitment: Full-time

Workplace Type: remote

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Lead Software Engineer, Cloud Site Reliability (SRE) based in India.

Join a cloud engineering team responsible for ensuring the availability, reliability, performance, and scalability of mission-critical SaaS applications. In this senior technical leadership role, you will drive site reliability engineering initiatives across Microsoft Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will design and implement cloud-native infrastructure, container orchestration solutions, and automation frameworks that improve operational efficiency and system resilience. By strengthening observability, incident prevention, and automated recovery capabilities, you will help deliver highly reliable services in demanding, 24/7 production environments. You will also leverage AI-driven operations to enhance predictive monitoring, anomaly detection, and self-healing capabilities. Working closely with engineering teams and cloud providers, you will shape cloud strategy, optimize infrastructure costs, and mentor engineers in modern SRE and DevOps practices.

Accountabilities

  • Site Reliability Engineering Leadership: Lead and execute large-scale SRE initiatives to improve the availability, reliability, performance, and scalability of business-critical SaaS applications across multi-cloud environments.
  • Cloud Infrastructure Management: Design, implement, and maintain cloud-native infrastructure across Azure, AWS, and GCP, ensuring operational stability, efficient resource utilization, and alignment with business requirements.
  • Container Orchestration: Manage and optimize containerized environments using Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), AWS Elastic Container Service (ECS), AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), Kubernetes, and Docker.
  • Infrastructure Automation: Develop automated provisioning, deployment, scaling, and operational workflows using cloud-native tools and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) frameworks, including Terraform, Helm, and ARM templates.
  • CI/CD and Deployment Excellence: Collaborate with software engineering teams to design and maintain reliable CI/CD pipelines, streamline release processes, and support safe, repeatable deployments of cloud-native applications.
  • Monitoring and Observability: Improve telemetry, monitoring, logging, and alerting capabilities using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Azure Monitor to strengthen visibility into system health and performance.
  • Incident Management and Resilience: Establish proactive incident detection, automated recovery, and self-healing mechanisms to minimize service disruptions, reduce recovery times, and improve operational resilience.
  • AIOps and Predictive Operations: Apply AI and machine learning capabilities to predictive monitoring, anomaly detection, incident correlation, and automated remediation, improving the effectiveness of cloud operations.
  • Cloud Performance and Cost Optimization: Partner with cloud providers to evaluate new services, optimize infrastructure configurations, improve resource utilization, and reduce operational costs without compromising reliability.
  • Technical Leadership and Mentorship: Guide and mentor junior engineers, promote SRE and DevOps best practices, and support continuous improvement across infrastructure automation, Kubernetes management, and operational workflows.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, platform, and operations teams to address technical challenges, align infrastructure strategy with application requirements, and deliver scalable, production-ready solutions.
  • Requirements

  • Professional Experience: 8–12 years of experience in Cloud Operations, Site Reliability Engineering, or related DevOps roles, preferably supporting mission-critical SaaS applications in 24/7 production environments.
  • Multi-Cloud Expertise: Strong practical experience with Microsoft Azure, AWS, and GCP, including cloud infrastructure management, operational reliability, and performance optimization.
  • Kubernetes and Containerization: Hands-on expertise with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), AWS ECS/EKS, Kubernetes, Docker, and container lifecycle management in production environments.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Proficiency in infrastructure automation using Terraform, Helm charts, ARM templates, or comparable IaC frameworks, along with cloud-native provisioning and configuration management.
  • Cloud Architecture Fundamentals: Strong understanding of cloud computing, storage, networking, compute resources, container orchestration, scalability, and high-availability design principles.
  • Scripting and Automation: Experience with PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages to automate operational tasks, infrastructure management, and incident response.
  • CI/CD and DevOps: Demonstrated experience building, maintaining, and improving CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and release management processes.
  • Monitoring and Logging: Familiarity with observability and monitoring platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Azure Monitor, as well as centralized logging, telemetry, alerting, and performance analysis.
  • SRE and Incident Management: Strong understanding of reliability engineering principles, incident response, root-cause analysis, disaster recovery, automated remediation, and production system optimization.
  • AIOps and Intelligent Automation: Proven expertise in applying AI/ML-driven operational practices, including predictive monitoring, anomaly detection, incident correlation, and self-healing capabilities in cloud-native environments.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to diagnose complex infrastructure and application issues, evaluate technical trade-offs, and implement sustainable solutions in high-availability environments.
  • Leadership and Communication: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to coordinate across technical teams, influence engineering decisions, mentor colleagues, and communicate complex issues clearly.
  • Continuous Improvement Mindset: A proactive approach to operational excellence, automation, cloud innovation, and the ongoing improvement of system reliability, performance, and cost efficiency.
  • Benefits

  • Remote Work: Work remotely from India while collaborating with distributed engineering teams.
  • Technical Leadership Opportunities: Drive strategic SRE initiatives and influence cloud architecture, automation, and operational reliability practices.
  • Innovative Technology Environment: Work with modern cloud platforms, Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, observability tools, and AI-driven operational technologies.
  • Professional Growth: Expand your expertise through complex, large-scale engineering projects and exposure to evolving cloud technologies.
  • Learning and Development: Access internal technical events, meetups, conferences, workshops, online learning resources, and language courses.
  • Professional Certifications: Benefit from company-sponsored certifications to support your career development.
  • Career Mobility: Explore opportunities across technology domains and broaden your experience through internal mobility.
  • Health and Wellbeing: Access company-paid medical insurance, mental health support, and financial and legal consultation services.
