Integration / API / Data Engineer

Accountabilities:

• Design, develop, test, document, and maintain RESTful APIs, services, interfaces, connectors, and integration components using approved technologies.
• Analyze source and target systems, data models, interface requirements, dependencies, and error-handling requirements.
• Implement secure data exchange, transformation, validation, orchestration, and event-driven integration patterns.
• Develop reusable integration services supporting evidence collection, assessment workflows, analytics, policy enforcement, and decision support.
• Collaborate with security engineers to implement authentication, authorization, secrets management, encryption, logging, and secure-coding controls.
• Partner with data and analytics engineers to establish schemas, data mappings, data-quality checks, lineage, and operational data requirements.
• Develop and maintain automated unit and integration tests to ensure reliable system and data integrations.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including interface documentation, architecture decision records, runbooks, README content, and release notes.
• Troubleshoot complex cross-system integration and data-flow issues and drive issues through to resolution.
• Contribute to secure, reliable, and maintainable integration architectures that support federal mission requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, combined with 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated software engineering experience developing APIs, system interfaces, data integrations, or reusable services in enterprise environments.
• Strong understanding of structured data formats, API security, automated testing, source control, CI/CD, and technical documentation.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex integration challenges and data-flow issues spanning multiple systems.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Ability to obtain a 6c Public Trust clearance; an active Secret clearance is highly preferred.
• Experience with REST/JSON APIs and integration frameworks is preferred.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, or comparable programming languages is preferred.
• Experience with AWS integration and data services is preferred.
• Familiarity with event-driven or message-based architectures is preferred.
• Working knowledge of SQL and data modeling is preferred.
• Experience with GitLab CI/CD, API testing, and observability tools is a plus.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
