Accountabilities:

• Lead, coach, and develop engineers across different experience levels, fostering technical excellence, ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Own roadmap creation and prioritization in partnership with Product and Design, translating customer and business needs into a clear and sequenced delivery plan.
• Drive predictable project delivery from scoping through launch while balancing quality, speed, technical debt, and long-term maintainability.
• Provide technical guidance on backend architecture and system design, helping the team make sound decisions for highly available and high-scale systems.
• Champion operational excellence by improving system reliability, availability, and performance, while leading incident response and post-incident learning.
• Build and evolve team structures, processes, planning cadences, on-call practices, and delivery methodologies to support team growth and business needs.
• Partner with engineering and product leadership to identify and shape opportunities for AI-powered capabilities within the forms and intake experience.
• Participate in interviewing, hiring, and onboarding to build a high-performing and diverse engineering team.
• Provide career development planning, regular feedback, mentorship, and performance management for direct reports.
• Foster an inclusive team environment that recognizes individual strengths and supports engagement and professional development.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and other engineering teams to ensure solutions are effectively integrated across the broader platform.
• Communicate roadmap progress, delivery status, risks, dependencies, and technical tradeoffs clearly to engineering and business leadership.

Requirements:

• Strong technical background in backend development, architecture, and system design, with hands-on expertise in Java preferred.
• 2–3+ years of experience managing medium-sized engineering teams and coaching engineers across early-career through senior levels.
• Proven experience with successful project delivery, roadmap creation, prioritization, and team or process development.
• Strong track record of driving operational excellence and improving the reliability, availability, and performance of production systems.
• Ability to make sound technical decisions and provide effective guidance on backend architecture and long-term system design.
• Experience working effectively in fast-paced, dynamic, and growth-oriented environments where priorities may evolve.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts, risks, and tradeoffs in terms of business impact.
• Strong people-management, mentoring, coaching, and performance-management capabilities.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with Product, Design, Engineering, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ownership, adaptability, problem-solving ability, and commitment to continuous improvement.
• Experience building or leading AI-powered product features is a plus.
