Accountabilities:

The Database Support Engineer will be responsible for resolving complex technical challenges, supporting developers, and collaborating with engineering teams to improve platform reliability and user experience.

• Investigate and resolve advanced technical issues related to databases, authentication systems, storage, real-time services, edge functions, and client libraries.
• Provide consultative guidance to users by recommending best practices, optimizing workloads, and helping prevent recurring issues.
• Reproduce software issues, identify root causes, define workarounds, and provide detailed escalation information to engineering teams.
• Analyze incomplete or complex support requests by asking targeted questions and transforming them into actionable technical cases.
• Communicate clearly and empathetically with users across different technical levels, especially during critical situations.
• Identify recurring challenges from support interactions and recommend improvements to documentation, tooling, and product capabilities.
• Mentor junior support team members and contribute to improving support processes and technical standards.
• Collaborate effectively in a remote, asynchronous environment with globally distributed teams.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate should have strong experience in database engineering, technical support, backend systems, or related technical roles. The position requires advanced troubleshooting skills, deep PostgreSQL knowledge, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

• 7+ years of experience in technical support, database engineering, backend development, SRE, or similar roles.
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL, including database internals such as autovacuum behavior, WAL growth, long-running transactions, and table bloat.
• Advanced SQL skills with experience in query optimization and performance tuning.
• Experience troubleshooting complex architectures, including multi-tenant systems and distributed environments.
• Experience handling data migration challenges, including backup and restore processes, schema changes, failed migrations, and safe recovery procedures.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or similar environments.
• Comfortable working with Linux environments and command-line tools.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to investigate issues, validate assumptions, and prioritize solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with global teams.
• Experience supporting high-volume technical environments is highly valuable.
